MGS a very good school , why u wanna change ?Hi all,
My DD got 254 (HMT +2), she already got a place at MGS (DSA), is there any other better choice for her?
Thank you! -
jacz:
Thank you so much for the suggestion, look it up already - there is no international dance for cca. Sigh...Proudparentof2:
Dear all, advise please. My child psle result is 223. So far this is what we have on the list:
Chung Cheng (Yishun) cop: 230, mean: 235, median: 233
Gan Eng Seng, cop: 222, mean: 228, median: 227
Mayflower, cop: 222, mean: 225, median: 225
Hua Yi, cop: 221, mean: 225, median: 225
Bowen, cop: 221, mean: 226, median: 225
Peirce, cop: 208, mean: 213, median: 212
Her cca is international dance and she is from River Valley Primary. Is the list too aggressive or good strategy. Worst outcome we are hoping she is going to Gan Eng Seng.
Advise please, pretty please to this confused mother-daughter.
You can consider Beatty sec sch, walking distance from Braddell Stn.
They have been very consistent in getting the value-add awards and the banding for 2010 'O' level is 6, one of the best schools to consider for good academic performance.
Good luck in your choices!
Any advise on putting Chung Cheng as 1st choice? -

Based on 254, I would say MGS is a good choice for your dd. I assume your dd will be joining the Sophia Blackmore programme? That would prepare her well for the IB programme if she intends to join ACSI. Even if she doesn't intend to do IB, SBC will be a good as it caters to higher ability students.

Around that neighbourhood, the better schools would be RGS, NYGH and NJC. I don't think she'll be able to enter RGS and NYGH with that aggregate. Possibly NJC, but that's co-ed and they do not offer SBGE. The other alternative is SCGS which also offers SBGE. -

Hi, Finally someone mention RV ... can you give me your views abt the school my boy scored 255+2 strong in English A* , Maths A* , science A, Chinese A. which IP school do you think we can put as 1 st to 3rd choice?
Why don't you consider RV is distance is not an issue? The score will be safe with RV but borderline for HCI, DHS and NJC.WeiHan:
My DS scored 254+2. Here are the choices. Please comment, I need you guys' help in making the right choice for my son.
1st: HCI
2nd:DHS
3rd:NJC
4th:ACS(I)
5th:VS
6th:CCHS
We are just trying our luck on NJC and DHS....
Millions thanks :celebrate:
Hi. I am not an insider of the school. I know daisyt in this KSP forum has adaughter in RV. She will be very willing to help with your question. Contact her in other thread in IP schools parent support and preparation.
The only thing I know about RV is that they just got a big brand new campus at Boon Lay. You should bring your son/daughter there and take a look. My opinion is that you should only choose one of HCI, NJC and DHS as first choice and put RV or ACSI as second choice. -

my dd also 253 +2. Also stay in East. also deciding between SCGS and Cedar. DD afraid can not find friends in SCGS since classmates will mostly go to east side schools...any suggestions?PCYYH:
Hi .... my girl exactly same score as yours ... stay in east also ...
likely SCGS, CGS, St Nich ....
so we can make them friends ok ?? haha .. Actually still thinking over between SCGS and Cedar, think more of SCGS now ...
Hi PCYYH, Danmom , LandLparents
If any of your daughters would love to choose Cedar, they have my support
I'd say Go For it.
Not just because they are starting the IP soon.
But also because of the holistic curriculum.
I was from Cedar.
We were taught not to simply excel academically. We also excel in sports (track n field), in aesthetics (gym) and in many other areas.
The strict discipline has helped to nurture some really nice, independent , caring young ladies who are at the same time go-getters in life
I have said this before... but i'll say it again since the thread here moves very fast ...
4 simple words to describe my 4 years in Cedar:
Wonderful With No Regrets
Honesty Perserverance Courtesy
Though this (psle) is just a beginning.... Cheers to your daughters' sterling PSLE results...:) -
Maths paper easier than previous year but kids' performance was worst than last year in general. This is because MOE has given a very harsh guide lines to Maths markers! So next time if paper is easy, do not be happy!

I was waiting with my friend for her parents to arrive at the general office. There, we met our classmate. Her parents were talking to this male guy with another parent. This male guy whom I presumed to be the VP, entertained all the questions my classmate's parents were asking. He seemed to me as a really nice VP/Staff/Teacher as he did not seem to be irritated by the questions but instead answered them nicely. I was impressed. This is definitely a school I want to go. It may not be independent, but the whole school gave me an impression that it is very high-class. I really liked the school.
Hi livewith_vanilla
I was there too with my DD. A parent spoke to the VP re the daughter chance of getting in. The Daughter was scoring 23something. The VP is very honest and spoke in a kind manner that there is no chance as she believes alot of the high end 24 something and 250s will apply for Cedar this year which i believe too as it is really a nice school with good ambience and impressive programmesPCYYH:
Would like to add something I wrote on Cedar Girls topic.
My friend who scored 242 is appealing to Cedar Girls. The office staff told her parents and her (I was there but was sitting on the couch) that my friend's chances were slim and that the COP is likely to go up due to going-to-be-IP status.
For those on borderline case, perhaps call up the school to check so that you will not waste your precious 6 choices ?
So you are a 2010PSLE graduand and you have chosen Cedar? Congratulations
You will truly enjoy your time there.
Happy to know that you are very impressed with the school though I personally won't comment on whether the school has a \"high-class\" feel coz we were not taught to hold on to any \"elitist mindset\"
Any past-Cedarians reading this could probably guess my rough age : I was from the \"Tan Chen Choo\" era ... Tan Chen Choo was the then Principal. She often taught us values quoted from Confucius and she often stresses the need to be humble and to \"ying shui shi yan\" (to be grateful & respectful to whoever has helped us be where we are today)
Enjoy your time in Cedar
I enjoyed mine

My teacher actually told me that COP may increase cos the papers were easy.
Is it true?
But others told me COP will drop due to paper easy.
I am confuse now. :? -

There is no harm putting Chung Cheng as 1st choice but realistically,
the chance of getting posted to Chung Cheng is low, considering that their COP was even higher in the past years.
I would say your next choices Gan Eng Seng and Mayflower are good choices as both these are value-added schools (whereas Chung Cheng is not!). With your daughter's COP, her chances are very high indeed.
