my dd also 253 +2. Also stay in East. also deciding between SCGS and Cedar. DD afraid can not find friends in SCGS since classmates will mostly go to east side schools...any suggestions?

so we can make them friends ok ?? haha .. Actually still thinking over between SCGS and Cedar, think more of SCGS now ...

Hi PCYYH, Danmom , LandLparents
If any of your daughters would love to choose Cedar, they have my support 🙂
I'd say Go For it.
Not just because they are starting the IP soon.
But also because of the holistic curriculum.
I was from Cedar.

We were taught not to simply excel academically. We also excel in sports (track n field), in aesthetics (gym) and in many other areas.
The strict discipline has helped to nurture some really nice, independent , caring young ladies who are at the same time go-getters in life 🙂
I have said this before... but i'll say it again since the thread here moves very fast ...
4 simple words to describe my 4 years in Cedar:
Wonderful With No Regrets 🙂

Honesty Perserverance Courtesy

Though this (psle) is just a beginning.... Cheers to your daughters' sterling PSLE results...:)
Hi maisy, thanks for your thots and also great to see your love and appreciation for your school.

Went to both SCGS and Cedar today. Cedar really impresses with the new facilities and stella results. SCGS was very low key and quiet, as the open house was not much of an event. Spoke to one of the senior staff, and she mentioned that thou they accept affiliates with lower scores, these students will be drummed up for the Os .. hence the O level scores were still able to be top in past years, like avg 9.1 last year. Newcomers from other schools, with their higher PSLE scores, will be placed in the top 3 classes. Hence more opportunities for them.

Still pondering. But my girl seems to prefer SCGS, thou the school seems run down as compared to Cedar.

Spoke to parents with kids in Cedar and SCGS. More positive feedbacks on Cedar. So it is Cedar now. 🙂

last yr when the highest score was 294,RV lowest aggregate was 251.

This yr since the highest score has dropped to 282,and my child scored 246 including 3 marks for hmt.Do u think it is passible for her to go to RV with that score? She aso scored both A* and distinction for her Chinese.
2009's highest score was 290. 294 was in 2007.
25hourMaid, with same T-score (235), is TKSS as 1st choice wise? Thx.

I have friends whose kids are at TKSS and they are happy there. Also there are some very good feedback in the TKSS thread in this forum. You might want to go and read some of the comments there.

Thank-you so much for your reply. I called TKSS on open hse but the reply was there isn't any! Anyway, in order not to hv too many grey hairs overnight, i think will hv TKSS as 1st choice & Temasek as 2nd.
My son score 230, can I try TKSS(234) as first choice also?
Hi, juz went to look at the forum on TKSS & feel so relief! OK, set for TKSS & hope their COP do not go up too many points. 🙏

That's the beauty about this Forum. Useful info and advice at every corner! Someone calls it a BIG FOREST, just have to know which TREE to climb for the right info! :celebrate: :lovesite:

25hourmaid, oh dear, DS is so flicker minded! One moment said wanted to try for CCHM but gave up after realized is a SAP as he's pretty weak in Chinese. Then after lunch, said afraid it may be too competitive in TKSS and is now thinking of Temasek as 1st choice! :stupid:
Need another piece of advice from you again, can i agree with him? :?:
Sorry for the late reply. Been busy.

Haha, your son flicker, but my advice is to go with his thoughts. Don' forget that he is going to be the one to spend his next 4 years in the school. I forgot what was his score, read too many threads and have answered too many questions, so pardon me.

Yes, some people are put off by SAPs schools especially if they do not like Chinese to begin with, so I really don't blame him for chickening out at the last minute.

TKSS - Thought it was within his reach, so why is he feeling stressed out now? Did you visit the schools today? What's his feel? My advice is to go with his gut feelings, let him have a say. What is important is that he must feel comfortable wherever he is going to.

I was calculating my DS's ranking in Singapore... Just to confirm that Top 10% of the cohort are being offered 3rd category in the third Language or are they offered third language?

Dear Mad-Eye Moody

While all of us are proud of our kids' performance, results, etc, I would suggest that you do not show your support by inserting hundreds and thousands of :udaman: in the forum.

Thank you.

On Cedar and SCGS

Academically, they are both on par. Perhaps, one should decide base on ccas, distance and school fees. In the area on academic, Cedar has maintained its consistency thru many years . Generally, its girls are well-behaved, intelligent and hard working. My son takes notice of these positive traits(JC). School is pretty strong in atheletics.

SCGS seems to have brighten up lately base on their last yr O-LEVEL results. Is amongst the tops nationwide in english, literature and maths. Generally the girls hve a high command of english. Due to their exposure to different styles of writing, its girls hve performed well both in A-level and IB. Its niche ccas are dance, squash and gymnastic.

So btw these two schools, is a very close call.

syll
If yr dd likes SCGS, can place the school as top choice and prepares her for appeal. Make sure yr second choice is marginally below her T-score.

wheee grats, I had 251 at first but 256 after appeal. Being sick sucks )';<

And just realised BPJ - BNL takes at least 30 mins :stupid:
Hi Snowman.697!

OMG, I had fever for the science paper too! It has quite high- 38.7
Should I go appeal too? Just call up MOE right?
But the thing is, I lost my MC! Can I tell MOE to call up my school and talk to my vice-principle? (who witness me taking my temperature and showing that it was 38.7) And would they just add 5 marks or see your past exam marks?

I would really, really appreciate it if you could answer my questions~! ^^
