-
Hi all kiasuparents,
I'm interested to send my DS to Soka too...but we will move to Seng Kang next year so the travelling time is an issue.
any parents who stay in seng kang and send their kids to Soka?
How about their sch fee/term?
Thanks!

I made an enquiry previously and the school fee is $350 per month
How about their sch fee/term?
The school fee includes
- Group Insurance
- Study materials (stationary, health protection, transport charges for outing, perishable teaching materials)
- Gymnastics Movement Programme
- Creative IT Programme (for K1 & K2)
- Reading Programme (for K1 & K2)
- Music Appreciation (for K1 & K2)
Teacher-Children Ratio:
1:10 (for K1 & K2)
1:5 (Nursery)
I heard they employed full time music teacher for their music appreciation programme which rather impress me -
Thanks daddy2007 for the info.

we lived in wdlands and now in Novena area. my nephew has been in soka since 4yr old and going to K2 next year, anyway, 4yr old is the minimum entry level. I must said soka has a group of dedicated teachers and management in running the kindergarten. the sch facility is good, a 4 storey building with lots of space for the children to play and other activities, my nephew love to play in the sand pool.
I was impressed by the effort that teachers put in for home visit, yes, they do home visit during school holiday to each student house. May be i am new in pre-sch, cos i have came across any pre-sch that does home visit.
come end of term, besides a short face to face session with the parents, there will be 2 A4 size full pages report about the overall performance of the student + a cd-rom that featuring the learning of the student in the class throughout the term. cost? FOC. I suppose this is one of the good thing about being a non-profitable organisation.
my nephew spend 1 hour (each trip) travel to and from the school daily. As we are far from fm the school, we were not allow to enrol my nephew into morning class, well, fair enough…
just some adv for your consideration if u are living far fm the sch. My nephew is almost not possible to attend addtional enrichment class in the sch as the sch bus doesnt wait for him, and it is too far for my mum to travel fm Novena to Tampiness to fetch him. thus, we have to enrol him into I can read and Eduplus(chinese) during weekend.
Hope the above help. -

I am surprised that there is home visit. Wondering is it a norm for a pre-school?
I was told by the school that the year prior to the start of the pre-school, there will be 4 meet-up sessions. 1 is for the registration (in Feb), 1 for the vice-principal to meet the parent to understand more on the child (in Jun/Jul), 1 for the orientation day (& to pay school fee) (in Sep) in and 1
Entrance Day to meet the class teachers (in Dec).
Sound very \"professional\" or is it a norm for pre-school?!? :?Mrs_SingRat:

Am living in Central. As we will need to take the school bus, so we will have to take the afternoon class.
Didn't know there is additional enrichment class other than the allocated 3 hours. I will check it out
Thanks! -
This is a plus point to put your child there.
In fact, during my time my preschool teachers do pay home visits. Can imagine her passion for teaching. She has to walk kms to pay visit to each one of her students living in the kampung  -
Their school days for 2011 are
4 Jan 11 (Tue)
6 Jan 11 (Thurs)
10 Jan 11 (Mon)
All Children will report to school daily from 12 Jan 11 (Wed) onwards
On 4 & 6 Jan 11, teachers will accompany the buses to bring your child to school and the bus attendant will accompany your child home
This looks interesting. They staggered the start of the school across 2 weeks. Guess this will allow the child to be more comfortable in phasing in -
Hi daddy2007
This sounds nice. Is your kid studying in this sch? -
Hi daddy2007
Sorry for the typo, i mean I have not came across any other kindergarten that does home visit besides Soka. When the teacher visited us, they spent about 1-2 hours with us on any questions which we have about my nephew and the school.
I thot that was impressive for the time and effort put in by the teacher during their school holiday.
I am still new in kindergarten, in fact looking for one for my boy who will turn 3 year old in nex feb. but, i am quite lost among the choices that i have in central area.
May be anyone can share their view on where should my boy go, between Marymount Kindergarten and Newton Kindergarten? -
