Congrats! Congrats! So is he in Top 10?

Can you enlighten this mountain turtle here.
Why are these kids not taking the standard psle syllabus?
Do you mean all the subjects are easier?
      Do they take MT?
How do they enter secondary schools with their special T-score?

          Key changes

Starting from the 2008 Primary 5 cohort, primary schools will introduce Subject-based Banding to replace the current EM3 stream.

Currently EM3 stream students offer the Foundation level for all subjects. With Subject-based Banding, students will be able to offer a mix of Standard or Foundation subjects depending on their aptitude in each subject.

For instance, if a student is weak in English and Mathematics, he can choose to take English and Mathematics at the Foundation level while taking Mother Tongue Language and Science at the Standard level.

Another mountain tortoise here...often hear the term \"subject banding\" but never really understood nor check it out. Thanks for the link. 😄

              Nanyang Primary's Results

              2010 versus 2009 (2009 in bracket)

              Cohort Size : 472 (468)

              DSA successful : 155 (161)

              Top 10% of Singapore with t-score 250 or higher : 204 (200)

              T-score 200 to 249 : 232 (227)

              By subjects :

              EL A* : 159 (126), A : 252 (262) total 87.6% (82.9%)

              CL A* : 151 (131), A : 286 (305) total 96.3% (93.9%)

              MA A* : 240 (255), A : 138 (120) total 81.3% (82.0%)

              SC A* : 176 (189), A : 222 (209) total 84.5% (85.1%)

              HCL Distinction : 92 (72)
              HCL Merit : 185 (186)
              HCL Pass : 115 (103)

Total students sat for HCL : 403 (361)

Counting only A* & A, EL & CL improved, MA & SC dropped a shade in percentage terms. HCL improved, even with a bigger cohort sitting for HCL

One of the classes almost, well almost - whole class A* for Math
              Hi verykiasu2010,

Seems that NYPS' 2010 cohort's performance is better than 2009's, although the top ten T-score was lower than last year's. I was at NYPS' P6 graduation ceremony last Friday and was not very impressed by the current principal's speech. The ex-principal, Mdm Heng has this 'energy' that makes her speech lively. With this year's result, the current principal has proven that she could maintain, if not improve on NYPS standard. I wonder how did Nan Hua perform under the new principal's leadership.

              Btw, congrats! :celebrate:

I am sure parents will not put their \"risk\" in the hands of others when comes to PSLE. NYPS has the most GEP and lots of great and able parents to support, so whoever principle take over, the school will continue to produce good results.

                    Hi Vkiasu2010,

Congrats to you and yr ds. Ya, this year the % increase a little for those scoring over 250. Like many said with the high dsa sucessful maybe that’s why the top scorer’s dropped in t score. Anyway I was sharing with my ds need to look at the overall achievement of the school.
