My DS1 will be in P2 next yr in MS. Yes, MS is using the Stellar programme for English. The grammar text is more for reference and occasionally my son's Eng teacher went through some topics in it with the class. He left it in the locker the entire school year.

Stellar is fun They made sandwiches and ate ice-cream in conjunction with some of the units.

For this year, Show-and-Tell as well as the weekly spelling is graded and counted towards SA/CA computation.

If you are a teacher in a GEP school, why didn't you put your kid in your own school? :?

I taught in the GEP in a secondary sch many years back. I didn't know teachers can go in Phase 2A1. If I had known, I'd have tried to apply to teach in CHS. Am considering transferring to teach in MSH now that my son is in MSH. If they have vacancy, I may just try.

I envy teachers like you who know how to coach your own kids to excel. I find my kid disadvantaged coz dh and I dunno how to teach him the concepts in the right manner even if we got A-stars ourselves.

Make sure you apply for the secondary level coz there'll be extra pressure on your kid if you teach at MS primary. I know of classmates whose moms were teachers in my primary school and they were very pressurised to perform coz they didn't want their moms to lose face...Maybe this pressure is good for your kid?

most p1 kids i saw were using ergo bags, whch sometimes have cartoon characters…

Wondering -- the ergo (SPI brand) bag feels heavy.... does it really 'lighten' the load??

Went to Taka to try out the bags and ds kept complaining the non ergo bag was much lighter!!

Haha - Well - it might work against you as well.... Maybe if you were a teacher in CHS - you might end up not wanting to put your kid there cos you see for yourself first hand how the situation is!


I have 2 good frens (both teachers - and one of them in a super popular GEP school some more!) But for some reason - they didnt send their kids to their schools...... so....

Yes, I agree not all parents or children are comfortable with such arrangement. I can understand why they do not want to send their child to the same school. For me, it is for practical reason. Convenient in sending my son to school. Also, I hate to travel all over the island in the morning. I am teaching in the west. So can u imagine the distance I have to travel every morning?

Trust me, it is easier to teach other people child than your own. I am very patient when teaching my pupils. When it comes to my own son, I lose patience easily. So, I would rather send him to enrichment classes to learn Chinese and Math. :lol:

I definitely hope he won't feel pressure by my presence. Cos that is the last thing I want him to feel. It is always good to let children be themselves. Alternatively I can look for a school near MSH such as Bartley Secondary School. Definitely need to think through.

You reminded me. Need to get one for my son too. Haha... I asked him and he told me he wanted those cartoon character like Ben 10. Shd I just get him one without cartoon? Somehow I feel the cartoon made him \"childish\" (ok, i know he is still young ) :?

ergo bags can be heavy if ur child is small built and not used to carrying his/her own things


i got one kinderfun ergo bag. my girl used for 1 term and i feels its heavy for as she is very small built.

term 2 i switched to imitation ergo. still heavy.

then i switched to just barbie bag that i bought from kiddy palace but it has a compartment n elastic look to bind the bks in standing position, plus padded shoulder straps and this is lighter, and she has been using it till now.
