hi paulinn, I assume you are referring to shhk? For 6 years, you should be quite safe to receive the letter (but there's no guarantee, depends on that year's cutoff for the school you are applying to). Living within 1km is definitely a big plus. But for tao nan, past years saw balloting within 1km. Doing PV will not enhance your chances. PV and clan just allows you a way to put your name in during 2B.

Yes, am in SHHK since my boy was born. Thank you for your clear explanation. But is TNS relocating for upgrading of current school premises?

It really depends...no fixed requirements every year.
Back then in 2005/6 when we did PV, hubby gathered all the kids for enrichment every Sat and then contact the person in charge to bring them up...5 hours every Sat. There was another couple who started this 'entrepreneur program'. In recent years, saw this man who did 'traffic control' every evening at the carpark (back gate). You can write in to enquire if the Care Junction (before/after school care) needs any help during year end holidays).

Slight correction to hquek's reply. Only this year registration for next year P1 there is balloting for within 1km in phase 2B. But moving forth, high chance of remaining so since there are more new private apartments within 1km.

There is no official words what TNS would be doing yet.

Thanks for the correction, tankee. My mistake. Totally in agreement, I am expecting henceforth to see fierce competition for spaces in TNS going forward.

PV works doesl not guarantee a place. But if you are doing it, try making it more than 40 hours. The school will appreciate it. I did PV in yr 2009-2010, but was not lucky in the ballots in phase 2B cause we were outside 1km. However, was offerred a place in the late Nov 2010. Apparently, clocking more than 40 hours do help.

Hubby & I did PV for more than 40 hours...and continued with it. The school admin asked for help and hubby was more than willing. When parents do PV for the school and are not successful during balloting, the school will take note as service has been done FOR the school.

It depends...but you can try calling the school to ask the status of your application.

What do you mean by the school will take note? What the school can do?
