can we add our hmt bonus points even our score is not above 250 to enter a sap school?

HMT points can be used for ANY SAP Schoool, regardless of PSLE T-score.

thanks 25hourmaid!you've been a great help! :udawoman:
What is my son's chances of getting into RV with 249?

All I can say is no harm trying, but no guarantee for anything. COPs fluctuates every year.

My son is very interested in RV. He got 252+2. Is it safe for him or not?
Shouldn't be a problem. The COP for RV is 251

The verdict whether the published COP is inclusive of SAP:

This is a reply I got from MOE today:

Thank you for writing to us on 29 November 2010.

We wish to inform you that the posting of pupils to secondary schools is computerised. All pupils will be ranked by merit according to their PSLE results. In general, a pupil would be considered for admission to his choice of schools before another pupil who has not performed as well in the PSLE, subject to the availability of vacancies in the school.

As such, the student with the aggregate score of 241 (239+2) would gain a higher chance in the Special Assistance Plan (SAP) school when compared to the student who has gotten 240. Please note that the bonus points for Higher Chinese Language can only be used for competition for places in SAP schools. It is only meant for posting purposes.

Should both the students apply for non SAP schools, the student with the aggregate 240 would be in an advantageous position compared to the student with 239 – without bonus points.

Please also note that the aggregate scores in the Secondary 1 booklet is inclusive of the bonus points for the SAP schools.

            Cheers!

Precisely what I've been saying. But thanks for clarifying with MOE. πŸ™‚

thanks iikengkeng! this information is very useful. :salute:

My daughter got 244, and we are staying at choa chu kang, just 5mins walk to Bukit Panjang High School. We got headache about choosing Nan Hua or BPHS as our 1st choice.

                Anybody good advice pls.....
Nan Hua has strong Chinese emphasis, which is very gd for the students, if the travelling time is not too long, it is a gd choice. If u want to opt for convenience, then u should choose BPHS. Did u attend the open house for both sch? If u did, then u can try to compare the diff culture, prog, behaviour of students, etc. Ask your daughter which sch she likes. It is v important that she likes the sch as she'll be there for 4 yrs.

My DD has 257. Is there any chance of getting into RGS? We are considering RGS as first choice and SCGS second. Is this selection safe?

It's hard to say if your dd will be able to get into RGS. But based on past year trends, I would say unlikely. But SCGS is a very safe second option.

The cut off for 10% is at 249 this year, only 1 point higher than last year. My guess is that RV cutoff will be 1 point higher than last year, that is 252. If the brand new campus effect has taken effect, then maybe at most another point , 253. So I think you son 254 is rather safe.
