pris-tan:
Nan Hua has strong Chinese emphasis, which is very gd for the students, if the travelling time is not too long, it is a gd choice. If u want to opt for convenience, then u should choose BPHS. Did u attend the open house for both sch? If u did, then u can try to compare the diff culture, prog, behaviour of students, etc. Ask your daughter which sch she likes. It is v important that she likes the sch as she'll be there for 4 yrs.My daughter got 244, and we are staying at choa chu kang, just 5mins walk to Bukit Panjang High School. We got headache about choosing Nan Hua or BPHS as our 1st choice.
Anybody good advice pls..... -
naggingmum:
My DD has 257. Is there any chance of getting into RGS? We are considering RGS as first choice and SCGS second. Is this selection safe?
It's hard to say if your dd will be able to get into RGS. But based on past year trends, I would say unlikely. But SCGS is a very safe second option. -

anxious dad:
Thank you! I am a bit concerned as many are saying that COP will go up this year.[/quote]You mean many are saying COP of all schools will go up or that RV's COP will go up?
Shouldn't be a problem. The COP for RV is 251sall:

My son is very interested in RV. He got 252+2. Is it safe for him or not?
The cut off for 10% is at 249 this year, only 1 point higher than last year. My guess is that RV cutoff will be 1 point higher than last year, that is 252. If the brand new campus effect has taken effect, then maybe at most another point , 253. So I think you son 254 is rather safe. -
sry, just new here. I heard there are helpful ppl here
just wanting to help a good friend . She wants her son to get in higher chinese school, that is at the east. His score is 212. I can't think of any school, so see if u can help him

Hi all,
Can anyone englighten on Chung Cheng High Main? Is it a good sch? Despite SAP, it is a band 3 sch. I am worried abt its high emphasis on Chinese, not sure if my son is able to cope as his HMT is also not very strong. I visited the sch, it is quite old and run down but currently undergoing rebuilding and improvising the existing sch. -
NiNi:
actually, to me, i think they are popular, but i don't really think it is a good school... but their chinese is strong. same, i went to the school, i felt that the school is very run down and old, that will make the children not have to feeling to study.Hi all,

But they are renovating
which means the place will look cleaner! so i think it might be good. U may have a different view of it, but that's my opinion.

My son T-Score 257+2 HMT. The primary school teacher suggested NJC and Dunman High School.
NJC, DHS better than HCI? -
Hynion:
Hm, I am surprised why the teacher doesn't suggest HCI as the 1st choice. If i were you, I will put HCI, NJC, DHS in that order. Provided distance is not an issue for you and school fees also not an issue. My son T-Score 257+2 HMT. The primary school teacher suggested NJC and Dunman High School.

HCI being an independent school, the school fees will be much higher than NJC and DHS. If your son has not been offered EESIS, you will need to pay higher school fees. Of course, depending on your income, there will be different tiers of subsidy. See : http://www.hci.edu.sg/ContentPage.asp?TID=244
