Yes. My son's choices from 1st to 6th are HCI, RI, DHS, NJC, ACS(I) and CHS. We understand the 2nd choice RI is a waste. Just want to fill up 6 choice.
Hm, I am surprised why the teacher doesn't suggest HCI as the 1st choice. If i were you, I will put HCI, NJC, DHS in that order. Provided distance is not an issue for you and school fees also not an issue.Hynion:
My son T-Score 257+2 HMT. The primary school teacher suggested NJC and Dunman High School.
NJC, DHS better than HCI?
HCI being an independent school, the school fees will be much higher than NJC and DHS. If your son has not been offered EESIS, you will need to pay higher school fees. Of course, depending on your income, there will be different tiers of subsidy. See : http://www.hci.edu.sg/ContentPage.asp?TID=244 -
Got 234 as an aggregate for this years PSLE, which school is a better choice?
Is location a big factor when choosing a secondary school?
We want to choose Maris Stella High but we live in Jurong (west) -

What is the difference between putting a school as ur 1st choice and putting a school as ur 6th choice??? :?:
Hi Kelly,
All posting is based on merit. So it doesn't matter whether you put that school as 1st choice or 6th choice. If you meet the COP, you will get in. Only difference is, if you put at 6th choice and if you happen to meet the COP of any of the 5 choices above this choice, you get into the school of earlier choice first.
But if the COP for my second choice is higher than my first choice, then will the school of my second choice choose me instead of my first choice????? -

To give your 2nd choice more hope than you can put RGS or RI as your 1st choice. -
My son scored 258+2 HMT. My dream choices are RI and HCI. Which one should I put first? We are not chinese family. My third choice may be ACSI (IP).

It looks run down becos they are renovating. I went for the open house. Like the environment and the holistic programmes, so did my dd.
actually, to me, i think they are popular, but i don't really think it is a good school... but their chinese is strong. same, i went to the school, i felt that the school is very run down and old, that will make the children not have to feeling to study.NiNi:
Hi all,
Can anyone englighten on Chung Cheng High Main? Is it a good sch? Despite SAP, it is a band 3 sch. I am worried abt its high emphasis on Chinese, not sure if my son is able to cope as his HMT is also not very strong. I visited the sch, it is quite old and run down but currently undergoing rebuilding and improvising the existing sch.
But they are renovating
which means the place will look cleaner! so i think it might be good. U may have a different view of it, but that's my opinion.
I guess they have not not been putting a lot of emphasis on the academic for the past few years. I heard that the principal is re-focusing on the academics again.
It depends on what u want for your child. I prefer a holistic environment when my child can enjoy school life and learning instead of just academic-focused.

Hi ahquemaisy:
need some good advices.
my ds had fever during psle, with special consideration of 4 points, he has 232. goin to appeal for sst as he didnt manage to clear e 2nd around. now, we are struggling as to which schools to choose. seems like too risky to put sji as 1st choice, but we can only appeal if we put sji as 1st choice rite? our choices :-
1st choice - sji
2nd choice - maris stella / nan chiau
3rd choice - clementi town
4th choice - ?
5th choice - ?
6th choice - ?
we are staying at bt timah.
You seem to be in the same situation as Parentof3's friend. (or are you the friend he/she is talking about)?
My advice for your son is to forget SJI.
232 is 9 points away from last year's COP for SJI (241). Even with affiliation, SJI's COP last year was 238. Don't waste your 1st choice in this manner.
Your son can consider MS as his 1st choice instead since his Tscore meets last year COP for MS. This would be a more realistic approach. Hope this helps.
PS: Besides MS, there's also St Andrew's (233). In fact, St Andrew's would be a better choice than SJI (241). Do consider.
We did talk about St Andrew's but it's a bit too far. How about the last 3 choices? Any suggestions?
tks maisy. hehehe been askin my dear friend parentof3 til she had to ask for more advices.
no doubt st andrew is a better choice the banding is 7.
 now more like :-
1. maris stella
2. clementi town
4 choices to go ya. stil need more thinkin ya. -

School posting is based on merit according to three criteria: 1) pupils' PSLE Results, 2) their choices of schools and 3) the vacancies available in the schools.
A pupil who has performed better in the PSLE will have priority over another pupil who has not performed as well. The first pupil will be admitted first, subject to the availability of vacancies in the selected school. The second pupil will then be considered. If there is no more vacancy, the second pupil will be considered for his next choice school, again subject to the vacancies available in that school.
