lizawa:
Thanks, lizawa. My son's classmates with T-scores of 250 and 256 are keen to join Anderson Secondary. Could anyone share if Anderson Sec is a good choice to consider? Haven't submit choices online yet!! Thank you.pslemum:
Oops ! Typo error - shld be HCL for my boy. SO 251 can get into CHS, you think? Anyone out there considering Anderson Sec ?
I think should have no problem to get into CHS with 251. -
My child has 250+2 with 2A and 2A*. She's planning to appeal to NJC. Does she really need to put NJC as first choice, she missed last yr's COP by 7 points. Icalled NJC, ,they only have 190 places left Anyone understand how the system works?
I assume students are all placed in a straight line starting from the top student first choice school.
Am i right to say, all will be given first choice school first if they meet the COP. Then all the remaining student who missed by first choice will be lined in straight line again to check if their second choice school still have vacancy?
REALLY NEEDED ADVICE AS SHE HAS DONE S1 OPTION. Understand still have chance to alter. She has placed
1. RVH
2. NJC

can you elaborate more on Bt Batok Sec?
Fuhua is not very near Chinese Garden MRT, Lakeside Mrt nearer but need to walk 15 or 20 minutes or so.danlim:
need help as still cannot decide what school choice for my DD
We stay in Bukit batok, dd is from Bukit panjang Pri, she has 229, A* for English, A for Science and Chines, B for Maths
She wanted a girl school, not too far from home. She enjoys drama, dances
We are trying St Margaret as 1st choice but definitely needs to appeal as COP is 238. I know it sounds impossible but still want to try as her score of 229 dont give much choice
To appeal, we have to go to the school personally on 23rd dec? Cos we are in Shanghai till 27th, if that is the case, we have to change the flight to return earlier
the other option is simply take nearby school to save her travelling time
other choices are as follow
Nan Chiau(231 sengkang) quite far
Fuhua(229 Chinese Garden)
Kranji(229 Chua Chu Kang)
Bukit Batok(221)
Clementi Town(230 Clementi)
Presbyterian High(229 Yio Chu Kang)
Chung Cheng High(230 Khtaib)
CHIJ St Joseph(226 Sengkang, girls school)
Kuo Chuan(227 Bishan)
What should our choice order be as above?
Anyone has good experiences at any of the above schools? In term of transport, are they conveniently located near bus stop/MRT etcc, notorious for gang/gangster in any of the schools? dd is quite timid
thank you in advance for any help in this. it is now 1.15am, as you can see I am desperate

My son scored 258+2 HMT. My dream choices are RI and HCI. Which one should I put first? We are not chinese family. My third choice may be ACSI (IP).
HCI is a SAP school, if your HMT is HCL, you can use the 2 points; hence your score will be 258 + 2 = 260 for HCI entrance purpose.
but will be only 258 when used for posting to RI
if your HMT is not HCL, then it is still 258 for posting to HCI.
So if the cut off point for HCI is 259, you need 259 to get in but the non-HCL HMT has no bonus point.

appeal as soon as you know it is not successful in getting your choice4 questions,
1. When do we appeal for secondary school?
2. Any fee required?
3. How do I appeal?
4. If i am leaving Singapore on the 22nd after receiving my posting results, are there anything i'm supposed to do?
TIA!!!
not heard of any appeal fee before
go to school to submit the appeal form, some school's appeal form can be downloaded from the school website
you can't leave on 22nd, as you are required to report to the posted sec school on 23rd, 8.30am for registration, notwithstanding any appeal result pending -

I cant agree more with you. I will place more emphasis on banding, its value-add as well as school ethos and character when choosing a school for my kid. A school like Chinese High has very different culture and emphasis from RI and ACS. And Victoria has a very different environment compared to Catholic High. I think it is wise to look beyond cut-off points.is it better to gauge school by their banding, instead of COP?
Banding is the results of O level results, COP does not directly reflect the academic result of the school. Some of the high COP schools have ver high banding -
how to know what is the banding of the schools? is it published somewhere?

The fee applied to schools that conduct test during the appeal process.

Can take a chance by putting rgs. Appeal later, no harm since u definitely can go scgs.[/quote]Quite risky to apply for RGS, unless she has v gd CCA record.
thanks very much.naggingmum:

It's hard to say if your dd will be able to get into RGS. But based on past year trends, I would say unlikely. But SCGS is a very safe second option.
