MOE would look at your score first. MOE would rank every pupil who would have taken PSLE this year.

If lets say Child A is placed one rank higher than you.He places River Valley as third choice. His first two choices of lets say RI and HCI are full so he gets into RV.
After he is being allocated a school, it would then be your turn.
After you've been allocated a school from one of your six choices, it is only then it will be the next pupil's turn.

You get what i mean ?

I think your chances of getting into RV is quite good. In the event of you not being able to get into RV or CHIJ, you would be posted to Nan Hua (COP 242).

Score first. It's quite simple really.

Let's say you make the market-determined cut off for RV. This would be because RV has n places and your score puts you within that number of places.

But supposing you don't get into those n places. Then you will be bumped to whichever of your choices (in the order you put) still has places.

So you have to ask the question, \"After 1 round, will CHIJSN still have places?\" Then you have to ask, \"After 2 rounds, will Nanhua still have places?\"

Now, if you choose schools with affiliation (like CHIJ schools, MGS, SCGS), they already have fewer places because of that. So it is quite pointless to choose such schools for any place below 1st choice. Same for schools with DSA. IP schools are also likely to be oversubscribed.

So my personal reasoning is that your choices would be a bit of a waste. Given that your score is 249+3, you get about ONE whack at an SAP school at 252, then a second whack at a non-SAP school with COP around 245+, maybe. After that, better to look for steadily decreasing COP (242 and below) in schools that don't have 'other commitments'.

I'm not ruling out appeals though. That is a different question entirely...

oh. how would the computers know the pupils have the bonus points for hmt when the computers are conducting the placement of the secondary schools for the pupils? :?:

I'm posting the following material under fair use considerations, from p.6 of the MOE Sec 1 Posting guide:

7.1 The posting of pupils to secondary schools is based on merit according to three criteria: pupils’ PSLE results, their choices of schools and the vacancies available in the schools. A pupil who has performed better in the PSLE will have priority over another pupil who has not performed as well. The first pupil will be admitted first, subject to the availability of vacancies in the selected school. The second pupil will then be considered. If there is no more vacancy, the second pupil will be considered for his next choice school, again subject to the vacancies available in that school.7.2 Pupils who fail to get a place in any of their choice of schools will be posted to a school near their home which still has vacancies. However, they must have met the school’s lowest PSLE aggregate. As such, parents are advised to update any changes in official residential address by the stipulated deadline (see paragraph 10.1 for important dates).7.3 Pupils who indicate their affiliated secondary school as their first choice will enjoy priority for admission to that school, subject to the availability of places in that school and the pupils meeting all other admission criteria such as academic course requirements.

In addition, from the MOE website:

1. Secondary schools with Integrated Programmes have full discretion in student admissions.2. Autonomous Schools and Independent Schools can set aside 10% and 20% of their school vacancies respectively for discretionary admission.3. Schools with approved niches of excellence can set aside 5% of their school vacancies for discretionary admission.4. Students are selected during the Direct School Admission Exercise using school-based criteria, before the central posting exercise.

That depends whether the MOE computer programme is smart enough to take this into consideration. Nobody will know whether their programme is smart enough or not until somebody ask them or try out.
