Anyone not buying the 2011 Student Handbook?


Over the past 3 years, we placed an order for this book. Now considering not ordering for 2011.

I dun like the ring binding, pages are torn too easily, the cover page becomes like kiam chye by mid year.

I remembered my elder boy lost his and was not instructed to replace => not compulsory item?

Jennifer, I went to the bookshop today but the 2011 Student Handbook is out of stock. Wonder when it will be available.

So got reason not to buy I am going to buy tmr - P4 walk-in. Did u see anyone not P3 today? Is the q properly maintained?

Maybe because most parents have bought them from Popular (got 5% disc). Hahaha!!!

I heard from some parents that some classes were already notifed verbally. But I have not received my DD's though.

Which are the classes that were being notified verbally? Do you happen to know what's the number affixed for P3 top class?

I ordered online last week n collected last Friday. Nobody there at all because not walk in day. So I recommend don't go during walk in day. Got one mummy there wanted to buy on the spot but was asked to order online instead.

Thanks for your advice. I had intended to collect last week but was away. I set the date to collect this Fri. Hopefully, the queue will be better after most of the levels walk-in sales are over from this Monday onwards. I guess that mummy had gone on a non-walk-in sale day last week so was advised to order online? I think this new bookshop handled the textbook sales quite well. Instead of allowing that mummy to buy on a non-walk-in day, they played fair by requesting her to order online.

Anyway, I am not ordering online becos I need to see the CL reading book Xi You Ji. We hv a copy at home from my elder boy's P4 days. Need to verify if it is the same as the booklist did not specify the publisher (\"LingZi\" is a distributor only).

You've got a point. If that mummy doesn't have access to internet, then there are many walk-in days for her to buy the books. I think last week was meant for those who ordered online and opted to collect from the bookshop. If she was allowed to buy books last week, the bookshop would have flouted the rules, and many parents might just start swarming in if they knew about it.

I checked with P3 parents in this forum re the BFG storybook in the P3 booklist. I also happened to meet a PH parent at Popular whose eldest boy in P5 also has the BFG in an older version cover but content is still the same, therefore she's not getting for her P3 girl. It's not necessary to buy another one since my dd already has one. I think you most likely don't have to buy the P4 Xi You Ji too, can save $$.

I shouldn't have ordered the school handbook, cos at the end of the year, it was always like salted vege no matter how we tried to salvage it. My dd used it excessively. :roll: Maybe I'll check whether I could cancel the order since it's out of stock, when I go to school to collect the remaining stuff.
