      sinoboy:
In the end only the richer parents who can afford better tuition in more expensive centres will be able to help their kids into GEP program to emerge top scorers in PSLE.

I agree with you fully, sinoboy. Unfortunately, that is how the system is. But it should not be so.

Some children from poor families may do well. But they are doing so, in spite of the heavy odds they face. They do not have the luxury of 'enrichment' or 'individual 1-to-1 exclusive tution' which the rich kids readily get.

Hi, I have an aggregate score of 262 and I am going to appeal to Raffles Institution since Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) accepted me under the Direct School Admission Exercise. Can someone tell me if I stand a good chance with this score. Thank you, all replies are greatly appreciated.

          kevinL:
ACS(P) has 2 GEP classes in every level from P4-P6 so the boys are supposed to do well.

Btw, most of the P6 GEP students if not all have been provisionally admitted to the 7 IP schools RI, RGS, ACS(I), DMH, HCI, NYGH & RV and they tended to relax in the PSLE exam and it is particularly so after 2007.
Yr 2005 marked the 1st batch of DSA students to IP schools and for the 1st three years they still tried hard to get into top scorers. After 2007, the IP has been stabilised and u could hardly see those GEP students already in the IP DSA attempting very hard to become top scorers as they are already in the IP schools.
U start from zero when u get into secondary school.
          For the record,

There is 1 Top Malay Pupil in 2002, 1 Top Indian Pupil in 2003 and 1 Top Eurasian Pupil in 2005; compared to the number of Top Scorers each year, the number appeared to be miniscule!

There is 1 \"Other Top Scorer\" from ACS Primary this year.

I guess even when aiming for top scorer is not the objective tuition may be still necessary to fend off competition from alien kids who are far superior in terms of diligence, maturity and knowledge.

              Update on the results:

              http://img687.imageshack.us/img687/1329/rankingg.png\">

Information taken from Vanilla Cake's list and the Top 50 schools' (in this list) website.

              Corrections
ACSJ (Barker Road) is actually ACS Primary.
ACSJ (Winstedt) is actually ACS Junior.

Minor correction to above table: it’s not ‘Anglo-Chinese Junior (Barker Road)’ - it’s ‘Anglo-Chinese Primary’. The one at Winstedt is indeed ‘Anglo-Chinese Junior’.
