Hi chatelaine, no worries! still appreciate your effort & time to PM me..we were desperate liao..pounced upon that agency on Wed+just quickly went on Thur to interview lor..it's a kind of gut feeling that it's fated to get from this agency, coz didnt know this 1 beforehand..Hi cool_hi

anyway, getting a maid is like lucky draw, but at least, I think to take transfer maid for mynmar, risk not so high..not like indo/phillipino, almost 100% have loads of inherent serious problems..for mynmar transfer maid, usual problems are communication & employers no patience..& at least we get to interview them & judge their response, instead of just relying on a photo+biodata..
btw, just to share, the 1 we selected was at 1st not the 1 we preferred, when we compare 3 bio datas via email..so seeing face-to-face, really makes a great difference..& we brought both our kids & my mum along, to see how the 3 transfer maids mingle+managed the kids, especially my 21mth old son..whether they have initiative, how they carry my son etc..
that said, her performance can only be judged after she starts work next wed la..keeping my fingers crossed!! -
Hi cool_hi
Oic... wish you Good Luck
Do post here to let us know how's your new maid. -
cool_hi:
Very true. Since you have young kids, I think it helps if the new maid likes kids. And yes, my current maid and I have serious communication issues - her english not good (even though she managed to pass the test) and I can't speak her language. We're still getting by and I understand she's earnestly learning chinese from my kids.

Hi, Joeyz18,cool_hi,
best of luck! the maid you chosen understand eng and chinese? why was she being transfer out?
u can refer to my earlier post for other info on the maid..
she can only understand VERY SIMPLE english..but I'm used to it, coz my previous mynmar maid also same..a lot of sign language expected..but I think as long as they have good learning attitude+honest, I'm ok with this language barrier..
actually there's another 1 who can speak+understand english better, coz she used to teach primary school in mynmar, but a bit older, ard 30 yr old, married with 2 kids, but husband deceased. we are worried that she may not be able to handle my active 21mth old son..plus we are worried that with her better english ability, may pose problems later, coz she can communicate with the MANY indo & Phillipino maids at the void decks at my place
so it depends on what are your priorities, coz for us, we don't have elderly at home with the kids when we work, so to us, a decent, honest maid is more important than language ability..sad to say, better lauguage ability is seen to be a potential problem to us..ironical huh?
All the best to u!! -
Joeyz18:
Oops..forgot to say why the maid I chosen was transfer out..according to the agency, she was with that family for 1 month,& they found that her cooking is not satisfactory..coz the employer is a chef, so very picky on food..agency did offer us to speak to the previous employer, but we didn't la..so far, think this is the 1st time I encounter agency willing to let potential employer speak to previous employer..but not sure whether pre-arranged lacool_hi,
best of luck! the maid you chosen understand eng and chinese? why was she being transfer out?
hope for the best now
