d1s2:
A non academic question!

Is BGR a big distraction in school? There was a buzz among my son's primary school boys (currently in different secondary boys' schools) that their ex-classmate in NJC had gone out for \"4 dates with the same girl\" within months of starting Sec 1. There are probably similar cases in other schools too as kids nowadays are a lot more exposed than our time. My nephew is looking at NJC and my sister is a little concern..

Thanks.
there are some couples in NJC Sec1-2.
but the teachers know most of them (if this is a consolation) and nothing big ever happens.

lovely, sure beats doing Shakespeare(yucks!). 😉

uhm. JH2s do both Animal Farm and Shakespeare.
Shakespeare for Term 1/2, Animal Farm for Term 3/4.
at least for 2010 batch.
But i thought they were told to read up Animal Farm this holidays already??

but it was my firsthand experience and i did both Shakespeare and Animal Farm.
maybe they're changing it for the JH1s '10

Hi all!

I’m wondering if there are any books that we’ll need to buy for next year. Textbooks, workbooks? My friend is asking and I’m curious too. 😛

Thanks

yes, RELAX! its kinda funny you are asking about textbooks and workbooks now,
when your seniors are busy cooking up fun and games for your orientation. 😉

🙂 that is from the parents' perspective. My take is that boarding is generally good for the child; or at least for mine. She has become more independent, more mature .. and very importantly, more appreciative of family time ...

can't agree more. 🙂

oh...def they would be more appreciative of family time/ parents' love
but making boarding a compulsory issue leaves parents with no option....

the kids already shown appeciation when they come home from yearly camping, just merely few days without parents by their side
no need \"to torture\" them or us, parents, further..... 😉 anyway, just personal perference
I think its great! It will definitely help them build confidence and sense of independence...not to mention their self esteem. It feels good to be able to do things on your own. Of cos they will make fumble and make some mistakes here and there but that's part of learning, isn't it? We can't be catering for our children all their lives, they will have to learn to take care of themselves sooner or later. I am all for this and it is one the reasons why we chose NJC. I think it's also when they realise how cushy their lives has been that they will appreciate their family support and love even more,

You must have a lovely daughter/son. 😄 Don't worry, we all understand. As for me..I like to \"torture\" my son! :rubhands: LOL! I love to bits nonetheless.
I'm quite happy for my son to be at boarding. What's the big deal?

Kids need to learn and grow. no worries for me as my dd adapt very well at boarding and has become more independent, importantly she is happy.

No big deal......as i have mentioned in my previous posting,
it is just personal preference, be it to mummies or daughters
just post my view when i happened to read a posting stating, \"again not coming back on Friday this week.\"
