We gone through this last year...and we knew it is for top 3% after all the calculations.

So far know of 261 got it. Not sure anyone lower than this. But they may change the criteria. Saw a statement, \" Your child/ward is offered EESIS as he/she has been offer DSA to IS.\" Not sure if all got into Independent school via DSA, whtehter GEP or not get EESIS?

DD got 258 + 2 but only 3rd language being offered and not the EESIS lei. So, may be it's for DSA? BTW, now me and DD not sure should choose IP school or not? If yes, then would be DHS which DD very scared she cannot cope, me too.. worried for her, so thinking of Chung Cheng, we staying East, is this school going for IP ? But also heard that this is a very stressful school too, so we are very confused and afraid DD cannot cope with the very Chinese environment, her Chinese not strong. :?[/quote]no, chung cheng is not going for ip.cedar girls' school, catholic hs, chij st. nic, scgs, victoria school, st joseph institution and mgs are going for IP.

My thinking is the other way..... :?

if you have A for both lang(English & MT), I think you should be offer option of 3rd lang. This shows that child has no problem with language.

Good suggestion, may raise to MOE for further discussion.

For DHS is a govt school so may not have EESIS?

While I don't disagree that having done well in the languages may be an indication that the child may have a flair for languages, MOE is also concerned whether the child will be able to cope with the rigours of an additional subject knowing full well that the number of subjects a pupil has to manage has increased 100% (from the 4 in primary school to about 8 in secondary school). That probably explained when only the top 10% pupils are offered the option to do a 3rd language. It will be all the more unfortunate if the child is on the borderline, i.e. especially if the child just missed the cutoff.
