If your son's present school has affiliated sec school, why transfer him ? If he is adamant to stay, he will be unhappy if you transfer him. Honestly, don't transfer him since there is affiliated sec school. Your son may have to make new friends next year but he is comfortable with his surroundings already.
Thanks for your advice, we have bought him new uniforms for next year (current school). So he most probably stay for the next 4 years
I hope my DS will change his mind after reading your feedbackFettuccine:

My dd has been transferred from a neighbourhood school to a all girl's school with affiliation this year in P4. She performed very well in neighbourhood school with an outstanding result of being the 3rd in level. I told her the reason of transfer and she understands it and accepted it. Since her transferred to the current school she has maintained her good result. The only challenge she faced was to make new friends with new classmates in the beginning but soon she overcome the hurdle and become much stronger.
He is very resistant to transfer to another school due to his close bond with teachers and friends. However, he will be in another class in P3 next year, but only with 3 friends from the old class. I told him, he still have to make new friends next year.
The reason we are changing school, is because of convenience. Of course, the decision lies with him as I do not want him to be unhappy and lose his grades. Despite all the explanation, he is very adamant to stay. In fact, his current school is sec affiliated.

Your son's school already has a safety net why transfer? For my dd she is willing to make a change that's why we go ahead with the transfer.
Ic. Wish my ds is more understanding like your dd. Our main reason for transfer is convenience. However, the distance to affiliated sec is also much further. Just thinking about driving three kids to three different schools is tiring for me.

Hi Fettuccine,
It’s going to be tough on you…3 different schools to send your kids. I was having this headache before registering daughter for P1 earlier this year…she has priority under Phase 1 but the school doesn’t have any affiliation to sec school…thus hubby & I discussed this issue and he decided to put her in my former school which is in Toa Payoh under Phase 2A…so next month, it will be Toa Payoh for him while I walk son to school. -
Hi all,
We are currently staying in oversea and we plan to return back to Singapore this coming June.
I am trying to find a primary school for my daughter but so far all in vain, as most of the school told me no vacancy. What should I do??:(
Is there any returning Singaporean here who have succeeded in looking for a school for their children? Please do reply and share your story so I can know what should I do to get my daughter a good school.
Thank you. -
May be you could look at the list of schools that do not need balloting in Phase 3?
The MOE balloting page is closed. Unless someone has downloaded the statistics for last year to share with you.
Otherwise, a good guess would be from http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/content/singapore-primary-1-registration-school-balloting-history I think.
It will be easier to call the schools based on this list, chances of having vacancies would be higher.
Hope this helps. -
Hi musicmummy and ajmum,
Did you manage to transfer your child to Nanhua? Can share with me the procedure?
I am actually contemplating if to transfer my child just based on my child’s request. Would it be very stressful if to join the school?
Hope someone could share with me. -
My girl in P2, we are staying at Jal Bt Merah. But every school days she is going to school with two brothers in Ang Mo Kio. I've been searching nearby school but every school just gave me this answer :\"No more\" once they heard that she's a Malaysian holding student's pass.
:?: :?: :?:
She had lost twice when she's in P1 -
Do you mean she got lost heading home after school?
Can you put her on the school bus then… …
Maybe you can consider moving closer to the school…since you have 3 kiddos attending classes there…
Juz me $0.02 -

IMHO, i don't think the schools will reject your girl just because she is a Malaysian holding student's pass. You can bring out this problem to your MP. MP can help to write to MOE for their help.

Not sure which part of Jal Bt Merah you stay. Are you near Cantonment Close? There is a new school Cantonment Primary School. I believe it will be easier for you to try the new school. -
Both Blangah Rise Primary and Cantoment Primary are likely to have vacancies.
Cantoment Primary may not have P2 classes this year as it is a brand new school.
