      Hi,

My DS1 and DD2 are in Eager Beaver Yishun. The sch will be moving to blk 925 as what Cherylg has mentioned. The new premises will be much bigger than the current place. So far I heard only 3 teachers not going to follow the sch to the new premises. One due to family commitment, I am not sure about the other two.

Currently the teachers will bring the kids for outdoor activities eg. to the playground nearby, for nature walk nearby Safra. It will be the same when they move to the new place. Outdoor activities will include walks at nearby parks, visits to the library at Northpoint etc.
The teachers’ turnover rate is not high in the school. My kids are happy there and the teachers are generally ok. As for hygiene, so far so good as my kids seldom fall sick (touchwood).

Hi DS1 is in Eager Beaver. This will be his last year as he will be in P1 next year. He has been with Eager Beaver since N1. Comments as follow:

        1. Location ideal for us (we are staying nearby)
        2. The fee was about $400 (if u r SAFRA member)
        3. Teachers are generally caring. They are always ready to render assistance or provide feedback. The turnover rate is not high but we find that the newer teachers are not as good as those who left.
        4. Curriculum wise, we are not worried. They do have currciculum for Maths, English and Chinese. My son has no problem in learning. But we have been coaching our son on our own. Maybe that helps a bit. Sometimes he would comment that the things he learned in school was easy. Anyway, I feel that teachers are more important than curriculum.
        5. They have swimming lessons (must pay extra) which is good. My son is more confident in water now although I would not say that he is a good swimmer.
        6. The children in the centre are generally a happy lot. Can see that they are enjoying themselves in the centre. I must also say that the centre is popular. I have problem enrolling my DS2. Have to put him on the long waiting list.
        7. Now that they are shifting to a new premise, we will be monitoring the situation for DS2. We may be looking at other centres. No hurry as my DS2 is not even 3 years old. 🙂

Hope my comments help. Feel free to ask me if u need any other info.

        ppnqq:
How is the curriculum and teachers there? Do you think the teachers there are loving and caring enough for the children there? How about their hygiene?

Appreciate any feedback on the above. Thank you.

Thank you BigFoot for the feedback.

I am a bit hesitant because they are now shifting over to the interchange and above the multi-storey carpark which may be very polluted/hazardous (air and noise) and the danger there if the teachers are bringing the kids out (with all the heavy duty vehicles, buses and many other vehicles around the vicinity).

Also, heard some bad reviews that the teachers did not even bother to check if they had all the kids with them when bringing them back to the class after their swimming lessons (over several occasions already over at Yishun SAFRA). Worse, they did not even realised they had ‘missing’ children until some kind souls from the public helped to bring the kids back to their school! :!: Cannot imagine after they had shifted over to the interchange and the kids are to have their lessons at the swimming complex which will be quite a distance from the school.

Anymore reviews/feedback on EB at Yishun?

I think they will not be walking to the swimming complex after they shift to the new premise. Probably charter a bus to do that? Need to check with the school on the arrangement again.

If the new premise is fully air-conditioned, then noise pollution should not be an issue. I am more concern about how to drop off/pick up the kids safely. I was told that there will be a drop off point but not sure where exactly it will be.

Any parents whose kids are still with them? Need to find out how is the new environment (Yishun Interchange), especially with all the hazards and pollution issues. Appreciate all feedback. Thank you.

My kids are still there. The new place is definitely bigger. Noise pollution is zero as the new place is fully air-con.

Have you visit the new place? Go take a look and see if you like the environment. The only thing I dun like is to drive up the multistorey carpark.

                  Thanks Tigger88 for the feedback.

So you find the place and other factors still ok except for the drive in part? Not sure if the teachers there are caring enough because I understand that they have changed and have quite a number of new teachers. Also worried on the feedback read some time back on the teacher’s negligence who did not even bother to do a head count when bringing the kids back from the swimming pool.

Yup, the place is ok except for the drop off part. I didnt see any new teachers though. Only one new admin staff is added so far. My kids are still with the teachers that they are familiar with.

I do not know what will be the arrangement for swimming in 2011. For dec, the kids will be having water play at North Point. Was informed that there will be transport arrangement from sch to North Point for water play.

My DS1 graduated at eager beaver Safra yishun with fond memories. My DS2 is currently there. I must say this is a well run school. Over the years, I have send both my sons to various CCs because of our constant shifting of houses. We still find eager beaver is the best we have seen so far. The teachers are very patience and dedicated. I can see that they are genuinely interested in nurturing my sons. My DS1 sti remember his teachers in eager beaver and would sometime drop by when I picked up DS2 hoping to see his teachers. He is in P3 now. I believe you won't regret choosing EB. 🙂
