I really don't understand why they want to capped the Edusave bursary of the top 25% for family income of less then $4000. Well if they want to give bursery to the not so well off family, then I think they shuuld give to all children with family income of less then $4000 irregardless of their results. 😐

Alternatively, if they want to set the criteria of top 25%, then all children who are in the top 25% can get the bursery irregardless of their family income..otherwise it is like 'hear the staircase sound but see no people coming up'... 😐
Yes fully agree... that paper is only for show as we ended up keeping it in her important record file πŸ˜‰ It's just a feel good that wow she managed to get it that's all and our efforts paid off.

We were more excited to receive the good progress award which is more tangible as the child can see and touch the voucher for him/ herself and also get to \"spend\" the money?

Hi Vim, you ask a very very valid question. A lot of papers are wasted every year to print the 25% bursery letter and of no use ... The income cut-off does not sound like encouraging people to work.

Yay! My dd was awarded the edusave merit bursary and the good progress award this year. Good to know she is progressing well academically. Hope it continues!

Same as my dd. Does all who get edusave merit bursary get the good progress award??? :?

My older ds received the offer letter for the edusave merit bursary award, but it is useless since we aren't eligible based on income. However, the good news is that, together with his younger brother, he is also awarded the good progress award. That somehow compensates

My girl's maths enrichment teacher told me that she had a student who failed maths all the while. Then when he eventually pass and did OK, he also got the award.

Actually getting the award is a affirmation of the effort that the kids put in. In addition, we are hoping that they are motivated by it.

On the other hand, I feel that it's an affirmation for the parents who put in time, effort and money to consistently guide the kids. It's just a signal to us that yes, our efforts have not gone to waste and money is not thrown into the deep blue sea.

But I also feel that this is also governed by the performance of their peers. Eg. if the peers didn't do as well then they can move up the scale :? So this aspect is alittle uncontrollable too and not really a good gauge. :?

My dd classmate achieved Good progress award for SA2. According to the Form teacher, she made a drastic good progress from SA1 to SA2, ie. maybe scored 50 marks to 80 marks for maths...

Correct me if I'm wrong

But for kids who constantly study hard and produce relatively good results they will not be nominated for good progress...kind of unfair to them right πŸ˜‰
