Edusave Scholarship Award

MMM:
But for kids who constantly study hard and produce relatively good results they will not be nominated for good progress...kind of unfair to them rightActually getting the award is a affirmation of the effort that the kids put in. In addition, we are hoping that they are motivated by it.
On the other hand, I feel that it's an affirmation for the parents who put in time, effort and money to consistently guide the kids. It's just a signal to us that yes, our efforts have not gone to waste and money is not thrown into the deep blue sea.
But I also feel that this is also governed by the performance of their peers. Eg. if the peers didn't do as well then they can move up the scale :? So this aspect is alittle uncontrollable too and not really a good gauge. :?

Is the comparison between SA1 and SA2 of the same year? I made a comparison of my dd's marks. Eng/mt/science marks are about the same except for hmt. She scored 72 at SA1 and 82 at SA2. I think that must have been the one that did it. Grateful for the award and happy for her.
Hi MMM, I think the edusave merit bursary and good progress are awarded based on different sets of criteria. Think so only. New to all these bursaries, awards and scholarships. Never knew the good progress award existed until yesterday. -

But for kids who constantly study hard and produce relatively good results they will not be nominated for good progress...kind of unfair to them right

Yah... nothing is fair I suppose
So it's probably good to have a low base and then surge :?

MMM:
Never mind, kids that do consistently well get awards and scholarships that go by other names!vlim:

Wonder if the strategy would therefore be 1. Do mediocre for SA1 then 2. Do fantastically well for SA2?! -

Do they give out during SA1? My dd results was fairly consistent between the 2 exams (except for science which her grades jump by 10+ marks) but her level ranking improved significantly from P2. -

Yes, was told to get the good progress award, just study hard on the even years, P2, 4,6 which will concide with P6 also.

So not conclusive whether it is improvement from previous year's result and current year's result or SA results of the same year. For me, got this award this year =

. Will keep encouraging dd to do her best and see what other unknown awards land at my doorstep next year!!
