I just go to sleep. :lol:Yes, it's always best to rely on natural remedies instead of drugs.
If all else fails, try to distract yourself from the pain, eg read a good book, listen to music & relax over a nice cup of chamomile *bliss* , cook/bake, start a project (I recently made pillows for all 3 of my kids), chat on KSP forum ....

Hi Schellen, so the capsule u refering here is ponstan rt???
I think if you have very bad cramps and backache due to period, even Panadol Menstrual doesn't do anything to alleviate the pain. Eventually, my gynae gave me a prescribed medicine that comes in a capsule form. It not only helps with the backaches and cramps, it lessens the flow too. It was a blessing to me since I suffered from the pain and very heavy flow. I took about 1 a day for the first 2 days of my period when I get the pain and heavy flow. The only disadvantage is that you can't get it over the counter at pharmacies and it costs more than Panadol (can't remember how much as it was ages ago when I took it). I can't remember the name of the medicine but I'm sure if you mention it to a doctor experienced with this, he/she will know what you're talking about.

Postan (Mefenamic acid BP) is a painkiller that is non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agent (NSAID). It works for most pains thats acute or throbbing. It is an effective drug, but of course with any types of painkillers, you can get used to it and need higher doses for relieve when taken long term. Ibuprofen is another effective painkiller too, can buy over the counter in pharmacy (brand name is Neurofen). I take it for my backaches and tension headaches. For my migraines, the only effective relieve is Synflex (Naproxen), which is thru prescrition only.
The reason I know about painkillers, its bcos I hv very bad backaches, migraines and sport injuries b4. I got educated about proper usage of painkillers, so that i wouldn't get addicted to them.
About menstral cramps, I m one of those lucky ones that escape the agony of it. When i started having my period at age 12, my mum prepared some kind of herbs for me and also I had some kind of pill too. It was supposed to strengthen my womb and avoid cramps.
Strange enough, after I had DS, I started to hv more discomforts like water retention/bloatedness/headaches/heavier flows during my period.

Yes, yes! Sad to say, I'm familiar with Naproxen due to my sometimes crippling migraines - and it's the ONLY thing that works for me too. But it's kinda embarrassing because it is blue and oval in shape... easily misunderstood by casual bystanders as another kind of performance-enhancing drug :). -

No lah, Chief.... the little blue pill comes in a box of 3 or 5 tabs, Synflex comes in blister packs of 10. No doctor would give so many of the little blue pills, moreover they costs a bomb. Erh, I happen to know, cos I worked as part-time clinic assistant for 6 yrs. Which many a times, those regular uncles would come at odd hours like first ones in the mornings or just b4 closing to ask for their miracle pill. One unce even told me its for his dancing class (we liked to joke about him taking lap-dancing) -

Usually onset of period is about 1-2 years after development of breasts.
How tall is your gal?
I am also just as upset as you.
Cos my daughter is still so short.
Usually can only grow about 5cm more after 1st period. -
