          The Alternative Story:

Hi littlewoman, buds and parents who want to know more about our
          Science Toy Making programme,

This programme is part of our community service programme arm.
Our community service programmes are held at Heart of God
church. We believe in giving back to the community and hence
we provide both English and Science educational activities for
free for Heart of God children's church programme. Our founder is
from this church and hence we provide these activities for their
children's programme. These activities are open to non-TAS and
non Heart of God church members as well.

This Science Toy making activity compromises of a few science
          activities:

          1) Science Toy Making (concept: Elastic Potential Energy)
          - The children will get to see how certain toys make use of
the concept of Elastic Potential Energy to propel the toys
upwards and forward and they will make their own
toys based on these concepts after that. They will also
get to bring home a Science Toy after that.

          2) Ice-cream making (concept: salt lowers freezing
          point of water)

-The children will make their own ice-cream and we will
teach them how science is used to help ice-cream form.

          3) Instant snow making (concept: how a special polymer can make
          what seems like snow form)

          - The children will get to touch and feel this instant 'snow'

There will be games and character building lessons using bible
stories which are provided by Heart of God church. We are only
          responsible for the educational activities.

          Time: 2-4 pm/5-7 pm

          Date: 25 December (Saturday)

Venue: Paya Lebar Singapore Post at Heart of God church, not
to be confused with our East branch. The East branch is nearer
Delifrance, Heart of God church is nearer Coffeebean.

          OR

          Time: 4.30 pm - 7pm

          Date: 24 December (Friday)

Venue: Our Yishun centre (we will provide the educational activities and
there will be games and a character building lesson organized by
volunteers from Heart of God church that will be held there, we also
organize our community service programmes there as we do not want
our Yishun kids to lose out on having them, we are unable to carry
out similar activities at Bukit Timah as we do not have enough
          manpower)

If you want to reserve a place for your child, you can call us or email us.

          TAS

                    Hi FNg,

It is either 2-4 pm or 5-7 pm. You would need to choose one slot.

The 2-4 pm slot is more suitable for older kids (P3-P6).

The 5-7 pm slot is more suitable for younger kids (K1- P3)

                      Hi littlewoman,

Sure, we will reserve 3 slots for you. 5 year olds can join the activity.

However the 2-4 pm slot is more suitable for older kids (P3 - P6).

But we do have younger kids coming because they cannot make it
                      for the second slot (5-7pm)

                        Hi baong,

For the character building portion, they will learn values like:

                        - Being a person of their word
(children sometimes say things like 'Ok I will pack my room' and
do not do it until the parents nag endlessly at them, hence
they are taught why it is important to honour their word.)

                        - Being a person who gives a 100% in whatever they do
(they are taught why it is important to be excellent
in whatever they put their hands to do- whether it is their
studies, their friendships, their relationships with their family
members etc- it is important that they push themselves to
give their best. They are shown examples from real life and
the bible of how people can succeed in life because they have such
                        an attitude)

                        - Being a person who is a giver and not a taker
(many times, children tend to have a mentality that they ought
to be served, served by their parents, by their teachers etc.
Hence, they first thought is usually for themselves. They are thus
taught during these lessons to have an 'others' mentality.
They are also taught that the thing that lasts most in their lives is
the relationships that they make in life and not the things they
acquire. Hence, they should 'love people' but 'use things' and not
                        'use people' and 'love things'.)

The lessons highlighted above are some of the lessons taught
previously. However on the whole the lessons are generally
about principles that can help a child to have a strong and
                        morally upright character.

We strongly believe in these character building lessons as well as
we feel it is important that the children not only have a well-trained
mind but also have the character to hold on to their success.

However as these lessons are Christian based, many examples and
principles (like 'others first') are taken from the bible and during
these lessons, the teacher will also talk about God (Jesus).

                        TAS
