      Hi phankao,

Oh, your son will be in P6 next year…crucial year.
SAP assessment books are not easy and suitable for kids who have a keen interest in Chinese. Victoria Publications is not bad (esp that author called ‘Wei Yuan’).

Don’t bother asking Chinese teachers for recommendations…I tried asking my son’s teacher and she refused to give me any.

          Hi parents,

DS1 requested to stop all tuition classes next year. And only go for Chinese tuition.

I feel very insecure....considering that he is taking his PSLE next year.....

          how ? how ? any advice whether I should agree ? :?:

To give you an idea of his \"standard\"..... he went for a Maths placement test in Andrew Er early Dec, scored 88% and the teacher there said he is not very strong in non-routine question.

          He is #15 in school.

          Cheers

              Hi Emelyn,

Your son is #15 in his school standard ?
Wow, that’s amazing. If he is mature enough to study on his own, not to ask for tuition other than CL, than I think you can consider.

I recommend that P6 students next year try out the new Maths title CASCO Maths Tutor 6A and 6B assessment books.

Erm.... neighbourhood school.... so... we try not to be too complacent.

He is those type who rather spend time reading his story books, then study. So, if I give him homework.....he will wait till last hour before I return to complete them....

Anyway... just to share... had a conversation with a fren last night.
Fren's son did badly for Chinese in PSLE despite having many diff Chinese classes. Reason is because the boy switched off during the lessons. So, the lessons didn't help him.

I think DS1 is also capable of doing this, ie, switch off, if he is not interested in attending the class. So, will end up wasting money and time.

So... yeah.... we have decided to stop all his classes except Chinese, as per his request.

Will monitor closely his Term 1 results.

                      Cheers !
