Hi Emelyn,
Your son is #15 in his school standard ?
Wow, that's amazing. If he is mature enough to study on his own, not to ask for tuition other than CL, than I think you can consider.
He is those type who rather spend time reading his story books, then study. So, if I give him homework.....he will wait till last hour before I return to complete them....
Anyway... just to share... had a conversation with a fren last night.
Fren's son did badly for Chinese in PSLE despite having many diff Chinese classes. Reason is because the boy switched off during the lessons. So, the lessons didn't help him.
I think DS1 is also capable of doing this, ie, switch off, if he is not interested in attending the class. So, will end up wasting money and time.
So... yeah.... we have decided to stop all his classes except Chinese, as per his request.
Will monitor closely his Term 1 results.
Cheers !
Yes. The kids at this age will have their own thinking and more important is to monitor their performance after the CA1.
I am thinking of sending dd goes for for those Maths/Science workshop/intensrive revision class during the June next year. -

I am changing son's CL tutor.

Hubby & I had a discussion last night regarding kids' subjects. He advised me to pass him Maths & Science as these are not my strong subjects...a relief since they are really tougher from P5 onwards.
Kids start to voice their opinions at upper primary...scary for parents like us when they tell us what they want and what they don't. Looks like teenager stage is another phase to learn from experienced parents.

Thanks in advance. -

[/quote]It is not only the voicing of their opinion. As they approach their \"teens\", they have more of their views and also do not want to be told what to do. I find mine more impatient with \"my nagging\" and more quick tempered too, and he will give me the \"there you go again\" look once I say too much.....sometimes I really have to curb my tongue before I \"lash\" out at him.......sigh!

We are also learning/exploring the best path to help our children to do better and hopefully all the hardwork payoff.
We also wish all the children of P5 next year can do excellently in all the subjects. :celebrate: -
Hi Pen88n,
On top of having to worry about their grades, we have to control ourselves not to nag. At 11-12, they are not entirely mature, but yet want to act mature. This is the age we have to monitor their friends too.
Hubby & I are trying to leave son on his own more…since he is used to looking at his time-table, as we have to focus on younger child going to P1 next year…but won’t leave him to his own devices since P5 is a crucial year. P1 still considered a little ‘honeymoon’. -
can someone suggest some good english classes which follow MOE curriculum for PSLE. I read about TLL in this forum. what is their website.
