Anyone know roughly how much is the rate for 1 to 1(teacher coming to our place) piano class for grade 7 practical & theory? Thanks

As mentioned before, charges will vary from teacher to teacher depending on their qualification and experience. Grade 7 theory will be separated from practical. Generally practical charges for an hour at this level will be $240 per month, theory is normally given at least 30mins $120 per month.

As mentioned earlier, we bought a piano around the same time she commences individual lesson. So that's about 'right time' for my dd. Prior to that, when attending group lessons, she uses a yamaha keyboard

We're quite clueless how to select 2nd hand piano. Once we ascertain her interest, we bought a brand new. There's an existing thread on selecting pianos.

Out of curiosity, is 30 minutes usually long enough to cover grade 6-8 theory syllabus or are you referring to Grade1-5?

For grades 6 and 7, 30 mins is a quick cover for one topic, without doing any exercises. Normally I give at least 45 mins so that I can run through one exercise together with the student. Oh, and that’s provided I don’t have to go through any foundation work (those from grades 1-5) of either unexplained theories or forgotten theories. Grade 8, 45 mins to an hour, at least.
