In octopusmum's situation, had already informed her in the forum that it was a bid mistake putting RI as her top choice with score of 255+2.

Should hve place HCI or NJC as the top choice instead and put another good school as second choice. A number of parents in this forum are very well-informed and offered excellent advices to parents. Is up to individuals to discern such infos.

Hope she is successful in her appeal to NJC-good and neaer to her house.
How are you so sure HCI does not accept non-1st choice appeal and NJC will?

You should go to appeal today if you can. Last year my DS's friend short of 1 point to COP. they went to appeal immediately after posting result was out. They got a call from HCI on the very day in late afternoon that their case was successfully. But there were also some appeal cases had to wait a few days.

Both HCI and RI are known to hve turned down appeal cases for non top choice applicants. This rule has been in existence for many years. Of course exceptional cases do exist every year ie national atheletes or top national honours in maths/science olympiads. As for NJC, understand that the appeal committe does consider each case on its own merit even though advantage is given to pupils who opted the sch as its top choice.

Nan Chiau go up by 3 points this year. Scary.

                My son only scored 230.
Chances of appeal very slim. :stupid: :stupid: 😞

                      Octopusmum,
i was also shocked when u suddenly change from HCI to RI as the first choice when i read from the forum.
this arrangement wasn't the case that u had stated in the PM to me.
i had also told u to put HCI as the 1 st choice as yr son's score was very borderline.

Now, the only way is to try to appeal to HCI.
                      All the best........

huge huge mistake, i know…shouldn’t have listened to dh who suggested it. not pushing the blame to him …i should have been more diligent to read all the threads carefully but i guessed the 100 over pages of posts and the late nights have taken its toll…

                        hi ycpang,
i bet your son’s friend must have either put HCI as the first choice or was a top athelete or some other special talents to contribute?
