2010 COPs for 2011 Sec One Intake

Strange things happened. A friend's son put NJC as first choice and HCI as second. His score is 257. Was rejected by NJC and accepted by HCI..:)

Is it bc his 257 includes HMT bonus points? But yes, there are some 257s that are not accepted by NJC.

Agree with you. HMT Bonus is only for HCI , RV , DHS and NYGS ?
So ACSI IB mainstream COP shld be 254 while HCI mainstream COP shld be 258 then. But HCI mainstream COP of 258 includes HMT marks of maximum to 3 points ? So actual T-Score COP excluding HMT is 255 ?

COP is not a good indicator as one of main factors affecting it is the vacancies available. ACSI only accept 150 (IB) while HCI’s Intake is 450. Likewise for NJC with 250 slots. If ACSI and NJC take in full 450 students, their COPs may drop by at least 2 to 3 points. Should look at the mean or average score instead.

As some enter HCI without even taking HMT, some only got 1 bonus point, it is quite pointless to try to deduce \"actual COP excluding HMT\". I think it is best to still say HCI COP is 257 including HMT bonus, and ACSI IB COP is 253 without HMT bonus. As the COP for every school means the same thing (i.e. some with that score could not get entry into the school), I don't think we need to come up with another figure \"mainstream COP\" as it would be very confusing.

Agree it will be confusing to deduce COP excluding HMT and it's not really useful. without HMT, the 255 student will not be able to get into HCI anyway.
