How to toilet train children

Or, does your ds poo at a regular time (morning/afternoon/evening)? Some kids do so reliably, especially younger ones. If he does, then maybe you can ask him to try sitting on the potty at the appropriate time..

Not my DS...he can poo at any time of the day and it's never the same....so that makes it even harder to catch his 'little bomb' :? Easier for me to know when he needs to pee as his interval is usually 45mins. If in an hr or more still didn't go potty, I will have to remind him, then he will happily go potty and pull down his pants. :love:

Our boy have been trained by my nannie from his 15 month. Now he is able to tell us that he wants to \"she she\" or \"ng ng\" when he needs it. My nannie also have the confidence to bring him to market without pull-up.

The only thing is that somethimes he will only want to urine when sitted in the potty. Funny boy :?
BTW he just turn 18 month.

My 2yrs 6mths is just recently partially toilet trained (if he is too engrossed in playing or watching tv, he usually pee on the spot :roll: ) - my fav phrase nowdays is \"mummy, pass urine\" . Don't have the confidence to go outdoors diaperless yet cos he'll forget about informing me if he is engrossed in playing :roll:

He is still standing up to poo though....he'll inform me if he want to pass motion, but doesn't want to squat or sit at the potty or toilet seat. no idea what to do...think probably wait until he is older.

DS now at 2 yrs 8mths old going thru same phase. I think what happened was that I started too early when he turned 1 and I kept pushing him, so now he degressed to not admitting when he pooed and he would peed in his pants if I don't asked him at regular interval to go toilet. :x

I am really struggling about this toilet training issue. Other things like feeding, putting his toys/cutlery/books away, washing his hands, blowing his nose into tissue I hv no problem. I think I just hv to wait till he is ready. :stupid:

I have the toilet issue with my 20 month too.


I’m not home most of the time, so can’t monitor the toilet training. Now in CC, they are toilet training them slowly.

At home he can tell me he’s gonna make big biz. I tried put him on potty and toilet bowl, he’ll struggle to get off even after he agreed to it. Then he’ll go to a dark/isolated corner and concentrate, open his legs, bend his body to lean on bed/chair to pass motion.

He’s ok with potty before 1yo, maybe the potty too small for him now. Should i get a bigger potty to let him try?

How to get him to sit on toilet bowl? Any effective method to share? Now he’s so used to poo on diaper, how to change his habit before it’s too late?

For night toilet training, u must not give him any fluids 2 hours before bedtime. Then let him go toilet before he sleeps.

Thanks for your suggestion. The thing is, I normally give him a bottle (about 250ml) of milk before he sleeps (his bedtime is 9pm). I am concerned that he gets hungry at night.

I forced my girl to have her last milk by 8pm (her bedtime is 10pm). If she doesnt want it at 8pm then strictly no more milk for her after that. No problem with nite bed wetting after that. She was about 5+ then. Now she can wake up to wee even if she has drinks later than that.

Thanks. Do you have to wake her up in the middle of the night to wee during the training period? Someone I once spoke to, told me that she has to wake her son up every three hours which I think is disruptive to the child's as well as the care giver's sleep. BTW, when does your girl finish dinner? Mine takes at least one hour to finish his.
