      cherrygal:
      gathered from bishan thread...

Catholic High gives priority to Parent Volunteers at appeal stage (waiting list), no priority for Catholics. One of the moms called CHS and heard this from the lady who picked up the phone. Plan your strategy well.
      ----
is it becos the CH principal is not a Catholic?
actually if the Catholic diocese wants parents to send kids to Cath sch, shd gv them more priority over PVs

My ds just got into MSH at Phase 2B balloting... The rest of us chose to go to MSH in the end after weighing the odds and measuring the distance.

        Hi cherrygal,
u staying out of 2km of MSH? How many vacancies were there? And how many of you balloted?

Phase 2B had 91 seats. Those 1km and 1-2km all got in. After subtracting those, only 67 seats left for those >2km. 74 pple fought for 67 seats so not too bad but still nerve wracking. 7 pple didn't get a seat. This was the first time MSH had to ballot for Phase2B.[/quote]hi cherrygal,

when u registered for msh in jul was the circle line already up?
i wonder whether next year for msh will the balloting for 2b is worse due to circle line and tight situation at CHS. i hope the balloting wont spill to 1-2km cos i planning to shift to that distance cos within 1km not many houses and all very inconvenient and no amenities.

when u, bigfoot n vicki start the term in msh, can update me how is the sch?

if any parents hv tried CHS and MSH before, can compare the sch n update me?

        THANKS

            Hi sunset dae,

Do u stay near CHS? If u dun, forget about being a PV, dun waste time. ๐Ÿ˜„

And even if u stay near CHS, being a PV doesn't guarantee you a seat either. Sigh...we Catholics dun even dare to go for the balloting. ๐Ÿ˜ž

With the huge increase of PRs and conversion of some becoming Singaporeans, popular schools now are even 'hotter'. Staying within 1km requires balloting...Phase 2B for Catholics/PVs also need balloting. Really :nailbite:

To be honest, most Catholic Mission schools appear to be losing their \"mission\" ... or at least, seem to redefine them ๐Ÿ˜ž

I suppose you could look at it another way - Catholic schools need to take in non-Catholics to do their duty of evangelising.

But I agree in some part - Catholic schools nowadays are not the same as the ones in the past that were run by men and women from religious orders.

And I do get the impression that some Catholic schools are Catholic in name only.

I dun think catholic schools are 'losing' their mission. Coz from what I understand, their initial mission was to open catholic schools for children from under privilege homes. Regardless whether the child is catholic or not.

Of coz, from a catholic's point of view, I hope that they can give more privilege to Catholics so that they can provide more religious teachings which cannot be taught in normal sch.

                      :celebrate:

if catholic schools dont do catholic teaching, then there is no evangelism to non-catholic students. except for bible time, i m not sure what kind of catholic activities they have
