Just kaypoh...P1 and P2 now any tests or exams ?

I understand many schools have done away with this and using formative assessments...is Pei Hwa doing that or still sticking to the traditional style of doing things ?
Unfortunately there're still tests & exams for P1/P2. P stated during the P1 orientation that sch is still in the process of training the staff to assess students by informal means. In the meantime while sch is still building up her expertise, formal assessments are still needed.

Wished they had hurried up and do away with this so that even P2 parents can KLKK. 😎

Actually, I am from the school of thought that support exam.
This is because down the road the Singapore system still rely on exam. So it is good to start training them on the reality of exam rather than letting them get a shock in P3.

For example in Henry Park they do not have SA2 but the have a yr end test. Different name but same principle. No pressure as P1 to P2 is enbloc too.

:welcome: Your child in PH? Hope you find this thread useful! πŸ˜„ πŸ˜„ πŸ˜„

Thank you. My DD is in PH, going to P2 next year.

Saw some speculation on the class allocation, thought I can shed some light. The top P1 student for 2010 came from my DD class, so if they are really moved enbloc, then she should be in Respect 11. I'll know when school re-opens.[/quote]My DS is from Peace 1 and is going to Respect 11. Is your DD from Peace 1 as well? This will help confirm that the school is going to enbloc P1 to P2...

I’ve frens w kids in henry park, they have surprise tests all yr round incl a test at yr end too iirc, heh heh cos they passed them to me for my DS to use for revision. My frens like it cos no pressure to prepare for exam just revise as the syllabus is taught.
