Thanks for sharing. But do he appeal through some talent or CCA. His T-score 252 without any merit from HCL ? My DS got 253 and is still under waiting list ?????!Popcornmum:

My ds2 is a Dec boy. He just finished PSLE and did well compared to his peers. If we were to randomly pick 2 kids, one born earlier and one born later in the year, I agree it is not true that the older one would necessarily be more mature or do better in studies. However, if we were to look at the kid himself, his maturity certainly improves as the time passes. In short, I think it is \"harder\" but not \"impossible\" for younger kids to do just as well in PSLE.[/quote]My DS1 birthday is 31th Dec. He also just finished PSLE.

I agree. It seems kids born in Jan have advantage over Dec kids. They are almost close to being different year and different phase of development and maturity.
this may be a bit off-topic,but I don't agree Jan kids have advantage over Dec kids, before P1, u can really see the difference. But from P1 onwards, year-end kids catch up very naturally and fast and soon, you can't really tell the difference. As long as they are given the chance and proper guidance by parents, they will excel too. Just my opinion
Naturally and physically Jan kids are more mature than year-end kids. In May this year, I observed some of his classmates already changed voice. My son hasn't change voice till now. It is easier for parents to motivate and teach the more mature kids. I can feel the obvious difference. He is more self-discipilined now than the beginning of the year.
I admit there are exceptions. Like Rosyth's Sheldon (T-Score 279), he is one year younger than his classmates. But, I think statistically Jan kids should perform better than Dec kids. Just like girls normally perform better than boys in PSLE because girls enter into puberty earlier. -

My ds who is going into sec 2 next week is a Jan baby. Even now, he hasn't had growth spurt nor broken voice yet! haha. Some boys start growing in p5 and are so tall by sec 1!!!!!

Hi ,
I need some help here! Urgent .
My son was allocated to Unity. But we appealed to Kranji (his 1st choice) COP is 230 and he only got 229. We also appealed to Bukit Batok (COP 223). Bukit Batok called today and offer us a place. . But we still hoping to get into Kranji (which result will be out only on Thur). The school told me that if I accept their offer then I cant transfer again if Kranji appeal is successful and give us a place on Thur.
Its it true that we can only transfer One Time????
Very Stress! Hope you all can help to advice me what shall I do?????
Thanks so much....... :? :? :? -

Ask Bukit Batok to reserve a 'space' for your son and wait til thursday to see how it goes. If they reject, you can always go to Bukit BatokHi ,

. I know how you feel now.
Sometimes it is good to prepare for the worst and make plans around it. My DD's appeal outcome is not known yet - but I ve prepared myself and her mentally that she will go to her posted sch. Frankly the attitude displayed by the sch we appealed to sort of turn me off. There were different answers given on the outcome dates. Despite that vast majority of the few hundreds appeals will end up unsuccessful, the sch has not announced the results. No mention of the waiting list even. We are in complete darkness...
塞翁失马, 焉知非福 - your child may end up in a sch that is more suitable for him. So don't stress yourself out... -
Already told the VP of Bukit Batok, she said they will not reserve. If we dont take up, they will give it to someone else. Its a difficult decision.
That's why I am not sure whether can we take up the Bukit Batok offer first, and if Kranji can give us a place on Thur, we transfer out again. I am not sure whether can this be done. If we don't accept Bukit Batok now, and if Kranji also dont accept my son, then he will be landed at Unity, which is not his preference.
That's why I need help to advice whether can double transfer lor. That means we will take up Bukit Batok first, and if kranji accept us on Thurs, we request to transfer out from Bukit Batok again lor. Don't know workable a not ha...... :?: :?: -

just wondering, why did u choose unity in the 1st place? why not choose bukit batok? i feel that there is no difference between these 3 schools. all 3 are around the same standard. kranji may have the best cop but your child may end up doing better in unity. for example, the expectation of her to do well in unity is higher and teachers and school will pump in more resources into helping her to achieve academic excellence. your child may feel like a small fish at kranji since she did not meet the cop. the teachers there may also have lower expectation of her. do not simply look at cop. if u feel going to bukit batok is better then just accept the offer. i am sure there are many more ppl down the list waiting to get in also. just like u have given up ur place in unity, there are many others waiting to get in as well.Already told the VP of Bukit Batok, she said they will not reserve. If we dont take up, they will give it to someone else. Its a difficult decision.

Hi dotdotdot,
I think u should just wait for Kranji, since it looks like your prefered choice is still kranji. So going to bukit batok will not be beneficial, just probably emotionally. It might make matter worst, if i assume, the travel distant is also further from your home.
