My First Skool (former NTUC Childcare)

I am deicding whether to send my son to Blk 245 or Blk 236 @ Bishan St 22. I am aware Blk 236 will not be ready until sometime next year. Blk 236 is very near where I am staying. Whereas Blk 245 is further down. So my preference is Blk 236.


What are the pros and cons of new centre? Anyone with experience would like to share?

I have two boys u know? Haha.... The small one is turning 3 in Jan. As I may have problem with childcare arrangement next year, it is time I start planning to put him in CCC. If not, my maid cannot handle the boys in the afternoon alone. Just realise there is a PCF, Sparkletots around the vicinity. How come no one mention anything about PCF? Is it because it is no good? Bad reputation? Hmm....

I only know Hampton is quite raved and have long waiting list. You need to pay registration fee of $133 something just to put him on waiting list.

Think the pcf is ok only. Place is clean, but not much academic teaching is done??

Maybe can wait for the new ntuc branch to be open and see how lor.

Hampton? I tot there were negative feedbacks more than positive? Anyway, I have not considered that centre yet because I would like it to be within Bishan St 22 vicinity. so not much choice for me. I can consider PCF but need to visit it first. If not I will just try My First Skool.

Oh, where did u read about the negative feedbacks? There were long waiting list when I checked last week. I think those negative feedbacks were because of the initial logistic planning. What if u can’t find suitable ones within the vicinity that u want? Doesn’t seem to have good ones around leh.

Got that feedback via KSP (where else? :)) Anyway, I visited the centre with my wife. Like the place. Appearance wise, looks much better. Like what u said, we are number 16 on the waiting list. We decided not to go ahead since we must pay the deposit. As there is no bus services, we are not considering.

We went to the PCF @ Blk 267. Friendly teacher greeted us. But the place is undergoing major renovation so we could not see much. Most likely we will put our DS there. We are also on the waiting list.

We had also register with My First Skool just in case. We received an email informing us that the new centre will only be ready in 1st quarter of 2011 but they have no idea when. Suit us fine since we will only start around April-June 2011.

Are u staying around Bishan St 22 as well?

are they sufficient to prepare the child for primary school?

do the teachers leave the children by themselves, not teaching them much during lesson times?

actually this depend on the teachers. the best known childcare can have not so committed teachers and ur child may end up unattended as well. i suggest u observe or gather feedback from parents here. of course going down to the centre to have a \"feel\" is always the best.

yah. i had been trying to search for feedbacks for MFS McNair, but have not been able to find anything.


anybody send their child there? or if you know of anybody whose child is there, can direct them to this thread?
