I think it was bcos of feedback that these holidays should be on fridays to make it a long weekend. Something like that. It is not very enjoyable to have them plonked in the middle of the week then for the kids to return to school the next day.

Me too That's one of reason I forbade my DD to go to the shop for a period, hope bookshop auntie can fade my DD from her memory... :lol:

Haha i think it is more for the teachers' benefits than the children.. then why dont they make all public holidays on fridays too?? LOL

Just found that CCA is not compulsary for P3 in RGPS…not sure how to let my DD to enroll a CCA? not sure how many CCA programs can be chosen in RGPS?

Yah only compulsory from P4 onwards.. but my dd joined since P1. I think u can find the list of all CCAs offered from their website..

Hi Luanee, how did your DD join CCA since P1? Shall my DD apply CCA by herself if she want to take a CCA in P3, or her teacher will organized a CCA selection for all pupils?

Just wondering if RGPS let the students participate in UNSW ICAS tests?

Understand that we can only participate in the tests through school and they do not entertain individual enrolment though...

Hi Ming,

I found a school letter under \"general letters\" for 2010 on this topic. It seems rgps does organize the school's participation in the UNSW ICAS tests. However, it is for p5 and p6 students.

personally i think it is reduntant to take the unsw ica exam it does not add value to the kid’s portfolio unlike olympiad maths competition.

Thanks for sharing since you must be an experienced parent.

Agree that participation in the math Olympiad competitions especially with good results adds more value to the dsa portfolio. But could participating in the UNSW tests help students applying based on strength in another subject? I noted that it covers other subjects such as English, science and computers skills according to the school's letter. Having said this, I don't know if the top secondary schools place more value in math in their dsa selection process. Have to read the dsa thread.
