Yamaha or Cristofori

I want to enrol 5 yrs old gal for music lesson and am deciding on Yamaha and Cristofori. Anyone can advise me which is beta? What is the difference in the course structure in the 2 schools?

I have never send my kids to any of this 2 school. But I heard that for Yamaha, their selection of teacher are more \"stricter\". Their teacher MUST have Distinction for their Grade 7 & 8 exam. Don't know how true. :roll:

Both schools requires their teacher to have minimum Grade 8 practical, best is with theory as well. most of them have even higher qualifications.

teachers were trained in the schools so shouldn’t be a problem. I am teaching in music school too.

you may consider to get a private piano teacher? from what I know, some teachers do give trial lessons. so perhaps you can sit in and see how’s the teacher is like

I would prefer her to learn in a group 1st and monitor. If she reali has an interest in piano later on, then i would engage a private teacher. My gal has requested for few kinds of lesson, such as piano, art and craft, chinese enrichment etc, I feel at her age she still do not know wat she reali likes. She jus wanna try everything. I will let her try and see which one she likes. I will not force her if she has no interest later on.
Snowiebob, since u are a music teacher, if i need further information, can i PM u? Cos both myself and hubby knows nothing abt music. kekeke…

Hello hello, haha sure, glad to help if you have any problem. Ya during my time, my mum knows nothing about music too. It's I am the one keep asking her to let me try out. Luckily my teacher is good and I didn't lose interest and give up!

Anyway I guess 5 year old to join piano class in group is a bit too late cos yamaha and cristofori both have group lessons as young as 2 year plus, they would most probably ask you to get your girl for individual class. Try askin them since you wan her to get exposure

What is the rate for a private teacher?

Just some feedback. My sister let her 4 years old dd joined the group piano at Yamaha. My sis had been praising about it. She said the lesson is interesting and good. Plus parent can go into the class with their kids. Her dd enjoyed the class very much.

My DS1 and DS2 are in Yamaha Junior Course. It is a 4 year course and the focus will be in listening, singing and playing. They are more engaging the kids to enjoy music thru different ways and they use the keyboard as the instrument. While piano is very focus on playing music pieces. Your DD can still register as it is for age 4-5.5yo. While there is also a piano course for age 6yo. My DS1 will complete the course next year and we will let him decide if he wants to progress to piano.
