Yup.. True that not many students take G6-8 Theory.. Some teachers told the parents \"Theory till G5 will do, no point taking G6-8\"

I guess those teachers themselves dont have G8 theory so they dont think it's necessary.

I feel irritated upon hearing that!!

      Sorry, erm… why no point?

My point is that it's very useful and essential.. but some of my colleagues and also my current students told me that their ex-teachers discourage them to take G8theory. (WHAT!!)

I guess as teachers, we must do the right thing and give our students the best.

They will need their Grade 5 theory certs before they can register for their Grade 6 practical.

Hi, for lower grades in cc, I believe they are having group class. Meaning there are mixtures of diff grades.

As for Cristofori and Yamaha, if individual, it would be subjective depending on the teacher you get

      Hi,

It’s more to the teacher’s experiences and qualifications, together with the transport and all.
For Music schools because parents travel there.
Usually for private G1 fees will be between around $130~$180 (highest that I’ve heard of)
Oh and some teachers follow the Yamaha/Cristofori’s Calendar too.

      Hope this helps!

Actually it’s always the best to get teachers, be it music or academic through other parents introduction. Some teachers(minority) are very very qualified but can’t really teach/irresponsible. There are also teachers who are not as qualified but have the passion and able to teach as good.

Recently I just accept a student who is going to grade 7 exam in end July because the teacher is so irresponsible, going overseas without informing and didn’t even inform the parents when she is back, instead blaming them that they should call the teacher and check. To be honest the boy isn’t very ready at all!
Not to bad mouth, but how can anyone, not saying teachers, do that? Teaching them is like teaching your own children.

    • RE: All About Finding & Evaluating Tutors

It’s usually hard to find a tutor to teach what your child is weak at… Most of my students are their neighbors or relative and even school mates. I think is always better if other parents introduce you one tutor.
