i am paying $80 for 30mins session for 4 sessions Grade 1 (prep) at Cristofori. that is about $120 for 45min session if pro-rated. so i guess $160 for private piano is about right considering u have to pay for the teacher's transport ($10per trip??)? unless cristofori is overcharing me
just my guess.
hope to gather some views too.

Hi,
It’s more to the teacher’s experiences and qualifications, together with the transport and all.
For Music schools because parents travel there.
Usually for private G1 fees will be between around $130~$180 (highest that I’ve heard of)
Oh and some teachers follow the Yamaha/Cristofori’s Calendar too.
Hope this helps! -

Anyone knows the charges of the really good teachers for Grade 8 and Diploma? I am refering to those teachers with good credentials, eg, ex-NAFA or NAFA teachers.

Once I enquired from Benjamin Loh for my daughter who had completed grade 3. He responded that he charges $125 per hour, which works out to $500 per month with 4 lessons per month. In addition, he takes 6 weeks of paid holiday a year which means each lesson actually costs more than $125. I have no idea if this is a flat rate for all levels or if it applies to a grade 3 student. -

So did you eventually get a \"branded\" teacher for your DD? I just wonder whether it is worth it for such teachers. Apparently, they command for such high fee because they produce award-winning students. That said, I can understand why so many parents want to send the kids to NAFA. At least, they are relatively affordable.
