All About Piano Lesson Costs
-
Hi,
It’s more to the teacher’s experiences and qualifications, together with the transport and all.
For Music schools because parents travel there.
Usually for private G1 fees will be between around $130~$180 (highest that I’ve heard of)
Oh and some teachers follow the Yamaha/Cristofori’s Calendar too.
Hope this helps! -

Anyone knows the charges of the really good teachers for Grade 8 and Diploma? I am refering to those teachers with good credentials, eg, ex-NAFA or NAFA teachers.

Once I enquired from Benjamin Loh for my daughter who had completed grade 3. He responded that he charges $125 per hour, which works out to $500 per month with 4 lessons per month. In addition, he takes 6 weeks of paid holiday a year which means each lesson actually costs more than $125. I have no idea if this is a flat rate for all levels or if it applies to a grade 3 student. -

So did you eventually get a \"branded\" teacher for your DD? I just wonder whether it is worth it for such teachers. Apparently, they command for such high fee because they produce award-winning students. That said, I can understand why so many parents want to send the kids to NAFA. At least, they are relatively affordable.

Not neccessay branded. But these catagory of teachers are very experienced and captable of giving acceccerated program. So if the student pay twice as much and process twice as fast, it is worth it.

Premium teachers are usually more qualified and experienced. Hence the higher chance that their students will do well (and most also audition prospective students). However, this does not mean that studying with them will grant instant results and achievements. At the end of the day, if the student lack ambition and discipline, even the best teachers cannot produce the results. Some of these teachers who are close friend of mine noted that they cannot guarantee result or a pass in diploma.
One of advantage of studying with these teachers is their extensive connections, especially if you plan to make it professionally in music. Winning competitions and securing entrances to prestigious music institutions is not as simple as playing very well, there are backroom politics to be considered as well. -
It takes two hands to clap - a teacher who is good in imparting the technique as well as musicality, and a student who is disciplined, willing to put in the effort to practice what has been taught and the natural musical ability of the student.
For young beginners the discipline at home is very important and this is where parents have to step in. It really makes a different when the parents sit in when the child is practising. Doesn’t matter whether the parent knows music or not, but it is the presence and the encouragement that you are there going through with the child that is important. Slowly, the parent can let go once a routine is set. -

I know the conservatory teachers charge that. But they don't take.beginners.i agree, we have teachers charging 200 for beginners.

Iam not prepared to pay that much for my child. After all, she doesn't exhibit extraordinary talent or passion. Currently paying $100 per hour already feeling the pinch. Definitelywon't pay double that! Do you get parents willing to pay that much, Jason?
