I choose MacBook Pro because it is slightly lighter. Considering they have to bring it everyday, I thought slightly ligher is also better. In term of speed, don't think there is not much difference.Hi,
My boy will be joining Maris Stella high next year and I have 2 questions regarding MacBook
1. May I know if the differences between MacBook and MacBook Pro very big? If I get the cheaper version for my boy, will the speed affect his work in school?
2. Is the insurance necessary? Not sure if most of the student bot the insurance or do you think it is not necessary?
Thank you in advance for your help. -

You're welcome. Just trying to help out coz last yr I was also at a lost when ds just entered the school.Hi blitz,
Thank you!
Another question : If I need to pick up my ds after school, can I drive in to the school and wait at the carpark there or do I have to wait at the main gate (Mt Vernon Road) there ? do they close their main gate ?
You will not be alllowed to park in the school compounds to wait for your son, so you have to wait by the road side. -

How about in the morning, can we drop them off in the school compound or at the main gate ? I saw in the registration pack indicating that no entry into the school compound from 6.45am to 8am. -

DS just found out there’s Chinese and Math homework posted in the Studywiz for 1C and a couple other classes. The chinese is a toughie. The 1st part needs to watch a video and write a 350 word review. Thankfully the video link is broken so DS said no need to do this part for now. But the second one is just as demanding. This assignment is due on 12 Jan and will form part of the CA marks too.

Teachers do not inform them before hand ?
Went to get a phone card for my ds and realised there are singtel and starhub cards, which one should I get for my ds to use in school ? Sorry long time didn't buy phone card, so abit lost in this issue.
Thank you. -

Both the Math and CL2 homework was posted on Admin breeze early in the holidays. And the vid link worked then.
I ensure ds goes thru his admin breeze and studywiz daily for updates. Since MSHS is so into IT, I think it is wise to log on daily to check.
I log in weekly to check for updates too. -

We checked at the start of hols but didn't see any. So I guess have to wait for the video link to be up again to do the 1st part. Did your DS have any problem with the video review?skyjuice:

Hi YLH88,Hi all,
My ds going to Maris Stella (sec 1) next year and after reading through the thread, I have few questions that hopefully can get some advices :
1) Read that the students use cashcard in the canteen. Does it mean the students cannot use cash to buy their food ? need to get the cashcard ? are they able to topup the cashcard in school ? I was still thinking how much pocket money to give my ds next week when school starts.
2) all students have to wear the PE tshirt within their white shirt everyday ? I thought the PE tshirt is only use for PE lesson.
3) With the macbook, do they still have to bring the textbooks to school everyday ?
Thank you!!
Must be agonizing and exciting having a PSLE child! I shared the same sentiments- 2 yrs in a row too! Eldest in MSHS S2 this 2011. Was undecided between MSHS and ACSBr for my second DS but in the end chose ACSBr for him. All the best to our S1s in 2011 as they start their secondary sch chapter! -
