myprincess:
my dd from girl guides. first year alone easily fill up all the required CIP hours and more. don't even need to find her own CIP to do. a lot of fun and learning. let your DD go through the cca auditions before deciding what she likes.twilight:
Red cross has more achievements, as far as I know.

basics:
read the FAQs on cedar's website about cedar selecting 50 girls for the VIP at the end of the girls' sec 2 (in year 2012). Still not quite sure if these 50 girls will go to VJC from 2013 or do these girls stay at Cedar until 2014 and then go to VJC from 2015?
They will stay put at Cedar's. When the new 7 IP schools were announced last yr, there was a newspaper article which mentions that one of the conditions for Cedar taking on the merger with VS is that the girls remain at the sec school for 4 yrs before going to VJC. -

And does it take up lots of time, like weekend and holidays also need to go back? thanks for sharingmyprincess:

And does it take up lots of time, like weekend and holidays also need to go back? thanks for sharing[/quote]not as regimental as ncc and npcc. some marching is still involved. so far guides in the first yr only takes up 2 weekdays. once in a while weekends. sometimes holidays. i would say still manageable. of coz if going for competition will likely take up more time. same goes for all the other ccas.

So, i think girl guides is a good choice since u said it's not as regimental. But shouldnt we choose CCA with more achievements to get points? Will your daughter still get the 2 points at Sec 4 even though Girl Guides has lower achievement than Red Cross? Sorry, I'm not so good in this things :?

as we always travel, if need to go back, hard to pre-arrange.
Actually CCA should be enriching, rather than to get points. MOE should change this. -

getting into CCA with more achievements is a pragmatic approach. but i think in the end, hopefully the girls enjoy the cca they are in. besides cca, there are other avenues to score points. e.g. leadership positions. for uniform groups, it is not difficult to get the points after 4 years.

erm .. i think in cedar, the cca chooses you, not so much you choose the cca. your girls will tell you in the days to come.
