Hi everyone I'm new to the forum and my DD is starting P1 on Tuesday. Does anyone know what books to pack and what kind of stationery are we supposed to bring.

      TIA for any feedback!
      Hi,

For p1 students, the focus on the first day especially will be on settling the children into the new routine and setting. In other words, the teachers are not going to mind if certain books are not brought to school. You may like to let her bring her core subject text books and activity books, ie math and mt (part one only), and one English and Chinese exercise book. For stationery, a few pencils, sharpener, ruler and eraser should be sufficient.

Such an exciting time for the family! Take pictures of your dd in her uniform then buckle up and enjoy the journey. 😄

My DD’s school bus fixed at 6 oclock in the morning, and will arrive to school about 6:35, the drive said he need go picking up other works to work, thus has to drop those girls earlier to the school. I thought the school bus should arrange bus route properly, put more efforts to the students first. I don’t like the reason they gave to me. Just wondering where I can send my feedbacks for the school bus.

OMG… just got a call from RGPS to attend PV interview for my 2006 born child. My heart stopped beating for a moment… hehe…

I know it’s not guaranteed (far from it), but so excited and also so worried! Need to ask for experienced mommies/daddies’ advise… what should I prepare? What should I bring? How will the interview proceed? Who will interview, how many people will interview us? Is it like a panel interview? What will be the questions? To be honest, we are not sure what the school needs, and our skills are not that specialized and can only offer general services like admin work/warden/escorting children. Does RGPS usually require very specialized services from their PV parents? What kind?
Regarding the time, how usually FTWM cope with the PV jobs? How will the jobs be given to PV parents, through sms/email?
So nervous… will appreciate any advise. Thanks a lot!

I want to know as well.

I'm not sure whether 2013 is the deadline given by MOE, just know a few of schools will start their single session from 2013 onward.

The P has stated in a letter to the parents that the school may move to it's holding site in 2014. This date is not confirmed. Give and take 2 years for upgrading and the single session may commence in 2016.

my son isn't book smart he reads alot of sci books which goes beyond the sch syllabus. For me, i m ok if my girl does not sit for the unsw exam.

Bottom line is, we do what we think is best for our kids :celebrate:

Of course there is. It's just that there are more Math competitions so it's more visible. The downside to this is it's definitely a more competitive domain to apply for DSA in. These days a Gold in Math Olympiad doesn't assure you a DSA offer.

There are fewer kids applying for DSA via English and Science so competition there is less intense, which is a good thing. 🙂
                        You bet! 😄
