Yes, I agree with you. It will be tougher competition getting into a choice school. There are 5 million people in Singapore now. Schools have more choices of PVs and requirements to be one is more stringent too.

And our population was 4.48 million in Year 2005... getting crowded nowadays...[/quote]It's crowded everywhere on weekends and public holidays...roads are congested and places are packed ! In the past few years, we would expect shopping centres to be packed during school holidays. Now, it's simply scary

just got a call from RGPS to attend PV interview for my 2006 born child. My heart stopped beating for a moment.. hehe..
I know it’s not guaranteed (far from it), but so excited and also so worried! Need to ask for experienced mommies/daddies’ advise.. :?:
what should I prepare? What should I bring? How will the interview proceed? Who will interview, how many people will interview us? Is it like a panel interview? What will be the questions? To be honest, we are not sure what the school needs, and our skills are not that specialized and can only offer general services like admin work/warden/escorting children. Does RGPS usually require very specialized services from their PV parents? What kind?
Regarding the time, how usually FTWM cope with the PV jobs? How will the jobs be given to PV parents, through sms/email?
So nervous.. will appreciate any advise. Thanks a lot!

Congrats on being asked to attend PV interview
I read from another thread that parents who are accepted for PV at RGPS have high chance of getting into the school.

Schools have different requirements every year. Some are asked to read to the students, while others water plants or else escorting the children for outdoor on Saturdays. It really depends.
As for how jobs are allocated to parents doing PV, you would have to check with the person in charge.

Any doubts or queries you have, you can ask the person interviewing you. Hubby & I had no interview then...shortlisted and selected from the email we sent in. There was a couple (both working FT) who was selected with us...so I guess school has thought of the way they can chalk up hours.

Don't be worry too much, I think you has been selected for interview of PV, that means RGPS have initially qualified you as a suitable candidates, just be relax... you will get a very high chance for the PV parents of RGPS.

For my past years obersevation, if you are shortlisted by RGPS as PV, the chances of your DD to be enrolled will be very high (nearly 100%). :lol:

yeah, i also saw from the past P1 reg stats that phase 2B in RGPS is like almost guaranteed. but we are still at early stage now, only invited for interview, not confirmed yet if we will be accepted. i really hope the interview will be going well. but i'm as nervous as a job applicant here (or more!) .. moreover, i read from other thread, some parents even brought laptop to do presentation during PV interview! :shock: while for us, we are even clueless on what to do/prepare. sigh..

does anyone know in RGPS if we are called in for interview, how much is the success rate to be accepted as PV? I mean if they plan to have, let's say 20 PV, how many will be invited for interview?

Hubby did most of the PV then…on Saturday mornings from 8-1pm.
He had to assemble the kids for different activities (like wushu, chinese calligraphy)…when class is full, he would call the teacher-in-charge to come down to bring the students up. I did PV once…ie to wash 6 cartons of sweet potatoes for Total Defence Day.

It was tiring...fingers all rubbery after 6 hours...had to sieve out the good and rotten ones, then inform the teacher in charge how many had to be replaced.
There were 2 other mothers with me. When we first reached the room where the cartons were placed, there were 4 or 5 then...we had to scrub clean the sweet potatoes with coconut husk, then spread on the tables to dry and put all into the pails.

After we happily finished 3 cartons, a delivery man delivered another few cartons and we were like, 'huh' ???
