Silent reading is an oxymoron as far as ds is concerned. When ds reads something interesting, he must die-die find someone to share with immediately, otherwise he can't proceed  .

kindly remind your ds not to do that - talking to someone during assembly or silent reading - if not, he will probably end up standing on the stage.....

Dun scared him like that lah, teachers will give chance to P1 newbies 😉

But when the Principal goes onto the stage, everyone better keep quiet (parents included hor)
last year, my p1 dd was punished during the 1st month of school. she was on mc for the first 2 weeks of school and maybe not familiar with the rules. she learnt her lesson and obeyed the school rules from that day onward...where got give chance one!!

During silent reading, teachers are very particular…my son got punished and he came home crying. He told me he actually kept quiet but the boy asked him something…he answered and was caught by a eagle-eyed teacher. She ordered them to go up the stage. No kidding about this.

P1 then. NO chance one…students have to learn the rules and FOLLOW.

Bought a little wallet with zip for my daughter from Daiso.
All the best to you and also to the P1s starting formal school.

Will be good if you get the colourful wired thingy to attach to the wallet and hook onto the skirt. This way, wallet won't drop out of the pocket when they run or sit/stand... I didn't find it useful in the past, but when we started using it, it has become a MUST now. 😉

Oh, can advise where to find? Forgot to buy!!
I think they sell it at PH school bookshop too. You can go check it out. Otherwise, try Popular.
