Hi, I just had my orientation today.

I reached HCI at about 7.10am. Then registered and proceeded to Kah Kee Hall. (I was in Group 2)

Then they started off with the \"bomb game\", followed by going to the auditorium for some speeches. Then we had to practice our cheers. They made us shout loud (very loud =X) The two student leaders could shout louder than the 20 of us, and they made us practise it until it was perfect. They promised Strepsils tomorrow though, haha.

Followed by flag painting, then it was lunch. The queue was LOOONG, and by the time I sat down to eat my food, the student leader was like, \"Hey you have 5 minutes left.\" I was like 0.o what? I ended up not finishing my minced pork noodles =X

Next was the learning of the school songs (I think. If my memory did not fail me.) The music teacher was strict, but quite funny at times. (If you remember the lights going out, haha.)
Then it was the amazing race. They had games like trying to drop a bamboo stick horizontally while keeping it straight, tossing plastic bags filled with water, passing a ping-pong ball using spoons held in the mouth and etc.

Then it was the EP3 briefing, then debriefing and dismissal.

Overall it was quite fun, quite looking forward to tomorrow.

PS: I'm Zhi Yuan, if you know me. =P

Saw their programme on the web. Can share with us the CCA (they call EP3 ?) brefing?

Last night DS was chanting ‘willow willow willow …’ & telling us Dr Hon said this & that, & that the queue at canteen was very long. He came home hungry as lunch was the only meal he had in sch. Think he is still used to having recess breaks.

He is looking forward to the water bomb game tomorrow. Maybe in addition to extra clothings, should also get him to bring a pair of sandal so he could change when coming home in case his shoes are soaked.

There is a form regarding transport to MOELC only on Thu. We’d like him to sign up, but we wonder if it’s too early to commit as we don’t know yet if CCA will clash and thus lead to a change in his 3rd Lang day.

The list of CCA options are given to them in the Orientation booklet. They will be given a choice of 6 options to be ranked in order of preference. Among the 6, at least one from Sports, one from UG and one from Clubs and Society.

DS said can have max of 3 from Sports out of 6 choices, some like badminton has no more vacancy, a few are meant as 2nd CCA only.

Thursday is the dedicated day for 3rd lang in HCI. So no CCAs should clash. Unless of cos' there are additional practices for competition.

As far as I am aware, only the junior flying club and golf are 2nd CCA. The rest are all main CCAs. Out of the 6 choices, you must include at least one each from sports, performing arts, clubs and uniform groups.

You will be observed by the coach and sometimes \"invited\" to join that Sports CCA and \"guaranteed\" a place so long as you place it first choice. However, almost all Sports CCA are competitive sports, meaning if you join, you will be placed in the \"school team\". At least this is the case 2 years ago, not sure if it has changed.

Not correct. My DS is in Waterpolo and one of his regular training days is on Thursday.

Can share what is the criteria for waterpolo?
