We used to pay $120/mth for 1 hour group lesson. Max 6 kids but I think only 3 to 4 kids in my child's class.
Hi Sleepy, is it like music appreciation class or piano practical lesson? Is it good? -

Pretty good. Learn notes reading. Foundation strong enough to proceed to grade 1 after 8 to 9 months of group lessons. -

Yes today was a bad experience having the group lesson on piano. The kids came late about 30 minutes & it was my DD having the lesson with the teacher. Once they come in I can see that the teacher need to accomodate to the slowest in the class. The group was about 3 children (inclusive of my DD).sorry to interrupt,
If the group class is not from a music school, I would suggest to go for 1-1 lessons better. in music school is OK as they have certain syllabus to follow.
Unless the group is all same grade and less then 4 students. If not it's quite hard for them to learn every lessons. and if 1 student didn't practice or do his work, the teacher might pause and revise through again, so it's kind of waste the students time..
Personally after teaching beginners like 5 years old and quite new in this industry too, I guess it's better for them to have 1-1 lessons.
Now may consider to switch to 1-1 as the piano teacher the learning pace would be fast where on a 1-1. :celebrate: -
True, for group lessons need to make sure all the students know their stuffs well before they proceed, so it's quite hard. and it's very subjective as different kids have different learning pace.
So 1-1 is better as they can concentrate more and better -

I’m looking for a piano teacher who can come to my house during weekdays, I’m staying in the east, alternatively, I can send my DD to the teacher house. -

That's exactly what I did with my son. But Kawai wasn't right for my son; he couldn't click with the teacher. They also increased the fees. So after a couple of months, I stopped Kawai. Now my son's with Award Music School in Katong Mall, a family-owned business. Hope this will last longer.Cin:
Hi Pianojazzy
have you heard of Kawai Music school?
Heard their students are taking trinity guildhall exam instead of ABRSM
Currently my gal with Yamaha for JXC & im thinking of withdrawing her & transfer her to kawai for individual class. not sure whether is it the right choice for her....would you be able to advise.
is you ds still with award music studio? who is the teacher? is he or she good? -

We paid $150 for 4 lessons. Grade 2. Lessons at teacher's house. What's the market rate for a beginner student learning at teacher's home like 45 mins a session??
Very hard to say what's market rate. The range seems quite huge?
My dd's ex-classmate learning from another music teacher who goes to her house. Only $90/mth according to her mum. -

It all depends on teacher's experience and qualifications. Qualified but not very experience is usually minimum $30/hr. It ranges up till $60-70 for degree and very experienced teacher.

I’m very disappointed with this music school mandeville, my girl has been learning piano since last year… She like her teacher… Unfortunately the teacher had resigned… The school arranged a newly joined teacher to teach my girl… Well it did not end up well… She talks very loud… Cannot communicated well becos of her accent… Her notes were very messy… My girl could not understand what she wants…
So I feedback to the school, and get them to change to another teacher however they could not find any available teacher to teach on weekend…
I am very frustrated with their arrangement… What happen to this school? It used to be a good music school.
Anyone has the same experience as me? Very headache to find a teacher that can teach my girl on weekend…
