My gal, was so quite in the morning, complaining about how early she was waking up. I was able to bring her inside her classroom.

During break time I was there, her buddy was so lovely…
After school she was so talkative telling me about everything.

I am so happy to see how blessed we were to get her in a good school.

        Dear all,

My girl's form teacher told her that the wordings she wrote outside her exercise book (where her name, class, subject is to be written) is ugly. she told her to ask me to write for her instead. 😞

my gal came back very sad. 😢

wondered should i be glad that her teacher is so frank to her? :?
My first reaction in your case would have been to label the teacher siao - but that's not advised. So, first chance I get, I would probably speak (nicely) with the teacher and understand where she is coming from.

Haizz, the teacher expectations very high? Gosh, not all kids have copperplate handwriting. Anyway, define NOT ugly - it's a P1 kid for goodness sake.

For your girl, boh pian, just encourage her to make lemons out of lemonade and prove the teacher wrong. Sorry about your experience - it really is a downer on start of school.

In my kid's case, the school told us (parents) to fill in for him - guess that's good becos though my handwriting not good, at least it does not have direct impact on my kid.

For a P1 student, 2nd day of school, the teacher seem to have high expectations. My daughter’s handwriting not that nice either…capital letters same size as small letters.

I write kids’ names, class and subject on their exercise books. For son, there is also the teacher’s name to write…his Chinese teacher’s name is not the usual Tan, Lim or Lee but ‘liao’. I asked him to check the correct character so as not to write wrong surname.

My girl's handbook also stated 3 days but on the 2nd day no parents were allowed to go in anymore. My girl school buddy also from P2, some of them r so small size, if not for the name tag, I won't be able to tell which is P1 n which is P2 🙂

I wonder if we are in that same sch?! P2 as buddy...it seems they need some guidance 2. I guess the sch wants them to grow up and take the role as a leader soon. Aniway, I ve got no comments abt what had been stated in handbk. (No doubt i am upset as i took 3 days fcl :x ).

And as for 'rainbow'..don't be discourage by the teacher's comment. Prove to them that ugly handwriting doesnt mean you are not clever right. They are just P1. No one is perfect. Every kids are different. You can't judge them by their handwriting. Doctors have BAAD handwriting too.

How come a P2 student can be a buddy ? They are in the school just a year ago ! Son's school had P2s to be buddy to P1s once but changed to P5s after that.

Some teachers are simply tactless...just ignore them.

Wow, this teacher really has high expectations. My P5 ds's handwriting is atrocious. Lucky his teacher were merciful to him so far.

Don't take it too hard. Encourage your dd to improve her handwriting to proof the teacher wrong. Anyways, why nowadays school requires parents to write names etc for children? I remember specifically telling my son to write down his names on all his books since P1.

                  Hi rainbows,

My son has ugly handwriting since P1. His Chinese is worst ! I explained to him to improve bcos he will be penalized if teacher doesn’t understand…don’t get me wrong, if you find your daughter’s handwriting acceptable, don’t have to take what her teacher said to heart.

                    hi janet_lee88/ksme/minnie/hqek

                    thanks for your advices 😉

yesterday, she told me her english/form teacher wants her to give her a jotter book ie have to write her name and class - all in again. :stupid:

yesterday i told her to write her name and class nicely then give to teacher.. she was quite hesistant.. must be thinking what happen if teacher ask me to erase again and say ugly again ...

i have to keep reminding her that her previous teachers have never mentioned that her handwriting is ugly .. hopefully it helps 😞

now i'm eagerly waiting for her to come back with what the teacher said about her handwriting this time round 😞

my gal's buddy is from primary 5. she only has 3 days of buddy company. today she would be all by herself - one more step towards independence :celebrate:

Agree. My son also has ugly handwriting when he was younger but as he grows, it gets better. Guess for now, we need to encourage them, make them like school and slowly correct them.
