actually the school wants to train the kids in chinese creative writing by doing this. the kids can apply this sentences in their essay writing, provided they can remember them.

If the child can grasp the meanings well and understand how to apply these phrases, it is great! But, proper guidance is needed. If they just blindly memorise these phrases without understanding, it defeats the purpose.

Agree with you! Will go back and check with my son whether they got the same thing.[/quote]My boy said he did not rec the spelling/moxie list yet.

            Hi markfch,

How was your son's first day yesterday ? Did he find the teachers/school overwhelming ? Sorry if I missed your post earlier...yet to settle my clock of having to sleep early and wake up early.
DS doing pretty ok, thanks. Apparently ds is quite tall for his age so he got to sit at the back row. He has a good friend already in class. Today CL teacher started formal lessons, teaching hanyin pinyin but ds said he finds it boring cos Berries already taught him that last yr. That's the trouble with being over-prepared.

Very funny ks2010. At the rate that this thread is expanding, I really don't think anyone can keep scores, keke. I've been away for only 2 days, and then this thread expanded by 30 pages. So now trying my best to catch up before the busy day tomorrow.

You know, my girl, started out p1, underweight. She was a very fussy eater, could 'fast' when food is not to her liking. When she was in a cc, she barely eats anything. Once she started P1, she had this liberty to choose and her weight ballooned. Her report book indicated her as underweight during mid year and than overweight at year end.

Today dw officially banned ds from buying any more frizzy drinks. So ds mood not very good. I just couldn't bare to be the bad guy.

No worries as they progress the teacher will get the better student to help the weaker students. That is another interesting dimensions as able to understand, able to apply the concept and able to teach others show different level of understandings that each child had.

Frankly, I think I flipped my son's science text last year more often than himself.

                      same here.
I also went through more top school exam paper than my son.

And last yr, I referenced the chinese dictionary more often than my whole life combined. So now delicated this challenging task to dw oredi :rotflmao:

He told me teacher will blow whistle at 720am :? Asked him what for ?
Some kids sleep in the canteen when they reach school early (those taking school bus). 720am is a 'wake-up call' to get ready for assembly.
Poor kids. Actually it's very bad to have lack of sleep. That's why I raised an eyebrow when I read that parents are willing to let their kids travel half the island just to send them to popular schs.
