I am intending to call the caterer to clarify on the menu if there are still no fruits but unhealthy tidbits/snacks by tomorrow.

Today's menu was stated as nasi lemak but what was given is not nasi lemak! They are given white rice with 1 nugget and a small piece of omelette! The banana become crackers AGAIN!!!

Are they trying to cheat us by giving us nice menu and then give junk food thinking that the kids won't tell?

Wow that's bad! OK, one last chance tomorrow then I'm calling. Which class are your boys in? We should tell the teachers when we meet them on 18 Jan.[/quote]Must give our feedback to the school and to Nonya Manis Catering. 18 Jan is very late but better late than never.

I am ok with them not having pure Nasi Lemak cos white rice is healthier. But crackers are no no. My son's kindergarten taught him about junk food and now a school giving him this may cause confusion that junk food is ok. Of course he eats tidbits on his own but whenever I reminded him those are junk food, he would stop.

Plus the junk food are all from weird brands... unreliable sources. I won't even dare to buy them myself. I would rather they give fruits everyday. Fruits such as watermelon, papaya, banana, a few grapes etc are not expensive. Think they are lazy to prepare these for the kids. So much easier to throw a packet of junk food in.

        Then don't give false promises!

Let's hope that they live up to the promise of giving fruits/oranges to the boys starting tomorrow.

How much to cater for the food? :?

To be honest, I feel that p1 is a bit too young to give catered food...after these few days, who knows what the caterer would give to the children?

Oh yah - did you mummies receive the info sheet from school?

The official school hours starts from 7.10 - i tot its 7.30 but hmm... they consider it as 7.10 instead (no wonder all the buses target to reach school by 7am)!

I vaguely sombody asking abt school hours in an earlier post - here it goes.

                Mon: 7.10 - 3.45pm
                Tues - Fri: 7.10 - 1.15pm

Oh yah - i was also reading the school's previous announcements and found out that for the extended school timing for P3 n P4 - they get to learn Malay (Interesting!!) (Any P3P4 parents can confirm if this is the case?)

Personally i think its good to know Malay (no need proficient - conversational will be good enuff for me liao) cos of our location! 😉

I was just wondering why p1 cannot go to the canteen to buy food?? :?

I think they can opt out of catered food and bring own. But I think they cannot go canteen to buy.

Must wait for MS parents to confirm.

Maris stella does not practise different recess time for different level. As such, my guess for not allowing young ones to buy own food is - it’ll be safer if the lower primary boys have their their recess in class.

Yes, you can opt out of catering and bring your own food - which is what i did for my p2.

For my P2, the extended timing on monday is because maris has just introduced "programme for active learning" every week - that takes up 2 hrs a wk, thus they need to make up the 2 hrs on monday.

                      Hope this helps.

Can anyone tell me which level are blue and purple name tags?

My P1 son takes the bus home and and i am disappointed to say that he is being teased/harrassed/bullied by a group of boys in the bus. He is taking a small school bus. first day he came home crying and i let it go as it could be him being sensitive to being teased (assumed non-malicious teasing). Yesterday, he got harrased again verbally and one of the boys took his bag and threw on his head. Lucky he ducked and the bag didn’t hit him. Anyone encountered such a situation?

Sad to say those boys don’t demostrate any gentleman behaviour.
