but I am not sure whether it will be all the P1 children parents be meeting together or it will be class by class basis. If all together then it will be less likely the teacher can comment on each kid right? Anyone has any experience on this P1 meeting parent session? TIA.
The usual practice would be all p1 parents gather at the hall to listen speeches by P or VP or HODs. The respective form teachers would be there too. Later, parents will go to the desks where their kid's form teacher is seated. The form teacher will probably brief the parents. Some parents grabbed the chance to ask about the behaviour or concerns of their kid in the class/school. -
Thanks starlight .

I've attended this PMT sessions twice. The form teacher will brief parents on their expectations for the student in terms of discipline, admin and standard. There will be NO chance to talk about your own kids.Sotong1209:

You may try & squeeze in at the end for 1-1 session only if you want to let teacher know what to take note for your kiddo.
Else you can forget about hearing teacher commenting on your kids.
How much do you think they will understand your kids with only 1 week of interaction? -

Will the choice of CCA affect selections of secondary school after their PSLE. I just want my DS join one which doesn't require him to stay back most of the days so it will not disturb his studies.
Yes, there is some screening process for some sports. For eg, dd wanted to join badminton so that she could learn how to play. In the end, she was rejected because she could not even hold the racket properly. She was utterly disappointed. She is now with Softball and enjoys playing it. The teacher even asked if she wanted to join the school team. :roll:starlight1968sg:
Mine ds chose (in order of preference) Badminton, rope skipping, volley ball and lastly Archery...
All sports!!
He said there is CCA orientation booth this Friday for them to try out (More like screening process I think...)
Not sure better for him to join sports or uniform group. :(
hi hi, my son is choosing his cca too but he experience a terrible time cos the cca teacher keep pushing him to other cca as i think they saw him is not in the top 3 classes. 1st choice- techno club 2nd media info comm club 3rd choice handball 4th scout. they will be asked some quest on each cca station but when he reached 2 nd stat, the teacher see his list n says why u didnt go join techo club, go go join n didnt even ask him anything so my poor boy went away to techno again n ask some quest n then try the handball, also rejected n lastly scout, the teacher asked all student who stand there, tell me anything about scout, all student very quiet then my son says can learn a lots of new thing n be more indepentant but also got rejected...angry by how my son was treated , jus because he is making his choice of fav cca. -

Why would the teacher pushed him to other cca because of his class?

If this is really the case, I will be very upset too.
my ds is at 3H, he tried badminton as 1st choice but was rejected as he would not serve. He was eventually accepted into skipping (2nd choice).
And his cca quest stops at stat 2, no chance to try other stations.....
So it is true that the school actually wants the best of the best for each CCA and not giving a chance for the kid to learn.... -

I supposed so... 1 wk, 1 teacher with a pair of eyes over ~30kids... slim chance.

I was disappointed too . actually my son got none of his cca in. 1st choice is techno club, ask him few quest then ask him to try other cca then he went to 2nd choice media comm, teacher asked him to go back join techno club so he went back n the techno teacher ask him to try other again so he went to handball but rejected cos he cant bounce the ball well then lastly scout also ask him to tell him what he knows about scout, my god my son was taken aback so he says i can learn new skills n be indepentant but he was rejected too. so he really had no choice to find mdm kavitha then she jus looks at his list n pick his last choice scout n ask him some quest too n approval him to join scout. I was thinking should i email mdm kavitha about the teacher of media comm of not being fair to my son cos she didnt even ask him quest as she should do. Bother!

I did make an issue why some CCA only recruit pupils who already know how to play that sport. Afterall, the pupils go to the school to learn.
Apparently this is not the case in reality.
So I gave up fighting and accept the cold hard facts of life.
