I guess the lunch period indicated is for those students who are going for CCA. For those without CCA, they should be able to go home directly after last lesson.
This year sec 1 boys also have a hosing down bath time by the councillors. Wonder what is the rational for doing such thing to the new comers :?YLH88:

Lucky boys! They have air-con hall to sleep in too!
And they sleep in the hall but air con not on, only fan is on
May I know when does the school holiday for Term 4 starts ? The letter my ds brought back indicated Term 4 school holiday starts 19 Nov. I thought secondary school start their term 4 holiday earlier ? Last year school ended at the end of Oct.
I also noticed in the time-table. they state 'Lunch' period at end of the day, is it compulsary for the kid to take the lunch in school ? or can the kid go off after the last lesson of the day ends (ie just before the 'Lunch') ?
DS confirmed there is hosing down bath time this year. I am also wondering what is the rational for doing such thing to the new comers???[/quote] Actually my DS enjoyed the hosing down last year. We all had a gd laugh about it too. My usually reserved DS found the camp a gd ice breaker and it was through those days that he made friends. He was just sharing this to his younger S1 brother just a few days ago and he said they were gd memories. So I'm sure your DS will enjoy the orientation! -
blitz:
Think should be in the toilet cos he said there are cubicles, they have to step out of the cubicle when the councillors spray the water on them, then move in to the cubicle to dry themselves ...
Was the hosing down in the basketball court or toilet?YLH88:
Maybe is the interpretation difference. My ds said they stand in a row and the councillors will spray the water on them.
Btw, what does 'RME (LS)' stands for ? There is a period in the time table stating 'RME (LS)' but both ds and myself do not know what that stands for ....
RME LS stands for religious and moral education, lower sec.

Ahh, this year the boys are luckier. Last year, the boys were hosed down in the basketball court. It was called Public Bath, altho the boys naturally had their clothes on.Think should be in the toilet cos he said there are cubicles, they have to step out of the cubicle when the councillors spray the water on them, then move in to the cubicle to dry themselves ...

Oh, then is a different hosed down

Went for the CCA Maze last sat and was very surprised to hear that they don't have tennis cca even though they have a tennis court, so strange ... my ds wanted to join the tennis team -
Sec 2 parents - are your boys forced to sign up for the Intermediate Life Science course?
According to the newsletter \"...the Science Department is collaborating with Genecet Biotechnologies Pte Ltd to organize the Advanced Life Science Course, as part of the Life Science Enrichment Programme* for the Secondary 2 pupils who are interested in learning more about the life sciences.
The words in bold tells you it is only for those interested. Ds didnt sign up for it, but he is made to stay back for the course today. -

I was wondering abt tat too. Sounds optional. DS also not keen saying last year's was so boring. Though this yr note says it'll be a fun, interesting course. Can they earn CCA points by attending? This could be earned under Enrichment?Sec 2 parents - are your boys forced to sign up for the Intermediate Life Science course?

Is your boy forced to stay back today as well? Yes, ds said last year's course was boring, so he didnt sign up this year. But he called just now to say he is forced to stay for the course. No CCA pts for this.

And there is a fee of $56 coz this is in collaboration with an external company. I dont see why the boys are forced to do an enrichment prog if they are not interested.
Have called the school, and am waiting for the person in charge to return my call. -

DS never called for me to pick him so I guess he's attending the class. I don't mind him attending it as long as it's interesing. Only then it'll be enriching.

It is not the first time Maris Stella newsletters are misleading due to their English!
