oh maid, u must be looking forward the dog park opening

Haha, can say that's about the only thing that I look forward to in this new Mall! The other shops are basically the same as other Malls and in fact, when I first read about the dog run at the roof top, that was the only thing that got me excited! πŸ˜‰

I am just keeping my fingers and my dog's paws crossed that the dog park is worth the wait! :? Hope it is not too small!

the fact that singaporeans love to shop,

thus any new shopping mall is always a hit at the beginning,
after half yr or so, the crowd will disperse......... πŸ˜‰

can't imagine myself paying such high rental and the end hitting mosquitoes πŸ˜‰
There have been times when I wonder if a Mall of this size, in a HDB neighbourhood, would survive for long? :? I suppose it is a matter of time before the some of the shop owners there start hitting mosquitoes!

is there Daiso in seng kang?? i stay in seng kang but had no clue there’s a Daiso. Which part of seng kang, anyone knows?

I dunno, but shopping malls in singapore looks the same to me, in terms of variety in the retail outlets. So NEXX is just another normal shopping centre to me. Hehee

            MMM:

I like the restaurants variety there. There are just so many and hence it's not difficult to look for a less crowded place as I hate to queue. But wonder if they can survive int he long run.

I also like th disney shop there as with the decor and music, it has a disneystore feeling.

Traffic is bad as there is a bottleneck turning in from upper serangoon. We saw cisco guards positioning there yesterday. They are in for a fat bonus if their bonus is based on the number of pictures they took. We still haven't figure out how to get to the mall's car park so we park at HDB but it's convenient.

Isetan is too small.... Nothing to rave about. Toys dept was pathetic. I prefer PP more.

BTW, I observed that parkway parade seems quiet these days (eg. car park and everywhere). Wonder if the crowds have moved to Nex.

think not only marine parade. two weeks ago, i went to suntec for dinner. We almost had the whole restaurant to ourselves. first time see an empty suntec. maybe the crowd goes to NEXX at the moment

            new place always attract crowds

            :celebrate:

autumnbronze, this is in response to your question about the dog park in the other thread.

Yes, there is a dog park right next to the kids' play area on the roof top of NEX.

The ads, promotional materials promised a dog park and we dog owners expected a nice grassy patch where our dogs can have a free run in a fenced up area like the dog runs at West Coast Park or Bishan Park that we know.

I was so excited when I first read about the so-called dog park on the roof top of a shopping mall, could not wait for it to open. Was very excited as I thought that was a very nice and new concept for a shopping mall.

The dog park finally opened at the end of last year, and when I went up there for the first time, I was shocked by what I saw! It's way, way below my expectations and those of my other dog owner friends. Few of my friends were thinking it would be a good place to bring our kids and dogs there since the kids' play area is right next to the park, but looks like we have to shelf our idea.

There was no grassy patch, only cemented ground and not only that, it's way too small. The so-called dog park is divided into 2 sections, one for big dogs and one for small dogs. And it is not a dog park, but what we dog owners call an agility course, with obstacles for our dogs to climb up and down, in and out etc and even for an agility course, it is way too small, think 5 dogs per section would have been 5 dogs too many! :!:

You have to go up there to see for yourself to know what I mean. There is a Pets' Lift somewhere near to MacDonald's. Of course, humans can use the escalators within the building to get to the roof top, no need to use the Pets' Lift to get there! πŸ˜‰

Not only the place is too small and cramp, the fence around the dog park is too low and according to a feedback at a dog forum where I am a member of, her dog actually jumped over the low fence, into the kids' play area, causing panic and screaming among the kids there .... can just imagine the scenario .....

That's why I said in the other thread that I am so disappointed with the dog park! :x :x :stupid: :stupid:

We visited this new shopping centre the day before school started. The place is BIG, lots of different things to eat...but other than that, nothing special. Isetan is so small. After CNY, I guess some of the shops may not be able to tahan...usually the case with retail.

Oh dear, I can see why you are annoyed.

Yes, I also envisioned a big grassy space when I saw your post earlier and was surprised that a shopping mall would have such a facility. But they did not manage dog owners' expectations at all from reading this post of yours.

                      What a disappointment!

Yeah, had my excited balloon deflated! :x :x :stupid: :stupid: Thought it is so nice to have a grassy dog run nearby, so don't have to travel all the way to Bishan or West Coast Dog Run ..... but ..... :x :stupid: Looks like it is back to West Coast and Bishan Dog Runs for me .... 😞
